Arsenal vs Sparta Prauge (Arsenal Stadium (Highbury))

Advantages: Easy. plenty more left in the tank Disadvantages: David Seaman, come on he is too old now!
Well Aresnel were already through to the next round of the champions league, and so I expected them to not play to their full potential. They were 2 up inside 10 mins with a wonderful 25 yard effort from Ray Parlour, and class finishing by Lauern. Arsenal eased back, and could have put 6 or 7 past Prauge. They had several more gears to go up, and could now be potential finalists, so long as they do not bottle it. With Adams and Keown out Nelson Vivas and Oleg Luhzney started. Both looked sound, and showed good strength in depth for the gunners. The only worriing point would be the performances of David Seaman and Silvinio. Prauge looked dangerous evey time they got a corner, Seaman was flapping around, and a better team would have punished them. He was also totaly at fault for the first goal, a stupid fumble, and bringing down a Prauge player for a pen. Surley Manninger must be given a chance when fit, or some of the youngster, as Seaman is not getting any younger or better. Silvinio was out of touch and looked tierd. Too many matches already this season, or does he need to get used to the more physical premiership? Ashlet Cole looked better when he came on, another brillient prospect for the future, after a vey good loan spell at Crystal Palace, Arsene should give him a few more starts. Overall Arsenal won with style, and easily, but there are much tougher tests ahead. Summary: |
