So we crossed the road to The New Bridge Inn. At first, we wasn't all that sure away fans were welcome so we covered up on entering only to find more Coventry fans inside so off came the jackets. Another one of my 'views of an away fan' series... Match: Sheff Wed v Coventry City Firstly I'd like to say how nice it was for the game to be completed, in full, on the day it was supposed to be. Last season one of our games stupidly kicked off on what was an obviously waterlogged pitch and abandoned after 22 minutes and then two of the re-arranged games were postponed due to frozen pitches. That highlights one of the big negatives to the positive of Hillsborough being a 'proper' ground. Old stadiums are more susceptible to having games called off. I write this review on the day of the 20th anniversary of the hilsborough disaster , where 96 fans very sadly lost their lives . My thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims at a very emotional time for them . At the time of the tragic disaster , Hilsborough was being used as a nuetral venue for a F.A cup semi final , therefore being one of the countries great stadiums . That game changed the stadium requirements in the U.K for a safer all seater stadiums . Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday is a stadium stepped in history and tradition, although one of the more memorable events at this ground is obviously the disaster at the Liverpool v Nottingham Forest FA Cup semi final where Liverpool fans sadly lost their lives as the terraces became too full. Upon my visit to the ground, it became immediately apparent that we would be sat in the very same end, the Leppings Lane end, and immediately thoughts of that day sprung to mind, although I was very young at the time.
