It is about character, perhaps the one thing that has kept the club roped together, the fans of Manchester city have shown great support and strength over the years of ups and downs and I think the character of Maine Road ... more

Premium Review Maine Road (Manchester City FC): The maine place for footy in manchester (330 words)

Well from reading other people's reviews on here it is clear to me that Maine Road is not popular, well not amongst the people you don't know how or why to appreciate. In my opinion Maine Road has quite a few positives over the new, prettier stadium "Eastlands." First of which is that. "Eastlands" is a poor name in my opinion and just does not fit the character of the club unlike Maine Road which I believe does. Simply because MCFC is not all about glamerous football and money, if you support them for that then you are delusional! Premium Review City fans should be glad they're moving (241 words)

I recently moved away from London to the vibrant if wet city of Manchester. The main problem in this move was that I would not be able to watch my beloved Tottenham Hotspur as much as I would like. So when the opportunity to see Spurs at Maine Road came about I gladly accepted the chance. I wasn't expecting much of a match. It was a wet Feburary afternoon and both teams weren't playing too well. Sergei Rebrov settled the match with a neat finish late on in the game but this simply increased my desire to get out of the stadium. The atmosphere inside the ground was abysmal throughout and the much celebrated Kippax did not impress me. The City fans ...  Read the complete review

After abandoning their traditonal badge for the three gold stars, and their traditonal club colours for the laser blue, City are set to leave Maine Road for the the new Commonwealth Games Stadium. From the clubs point of view it makes sense. They can't afford a new ground. The current one only holds about 33,000, even with the amazing temporary stands in the corners, the stands are old, and the whole ground looks like it has been designed by a 5 year old. They will be moving, free of charge to a brand new 50,000 seater stadium. For the away fans, the access is considerably better, and there is no need to go near Moss Side. But for the city fans, do they really ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review It looks nice, but looks can be deceiving (253 words)

When you see Maine Road on television you think it looks like a nice stadium. The trimmings on the stadnds look nice, the light blue seats look nice, everything looks nice. Wait until you go there though! For a start the away fans are stuck away in a corner. No problem, but they will seat you from the back (if your club sell the tickets in advance of the day) and you can be quite a way from the action. Not too much of a problem, although the fencing at the side of the stand is not too convincing. It does not stop the wind very much either! Prior to that you will have entered the stand. Through all the concrete and the flaking white paint. You really ...  Read the complete review

Maine Road (Manchester City FC): Hell on earth.. (198 words)

Ok so this headline might sound rather over the top but its my experiance going to see Man city play is a complete knightmare. Why? well its not so much the inside to maine road but the place in which it is located. Ok, so you heading to the ground, heard of a place called Moss side??? They welcome opposing fans, buses, coaches, cars, with a volley of cans, bricks, glasses, in fact anything that can dent a person or vehicle. It a really nasty place to go thru and to, one that really is scarey and needs a heavy police presense on match days. Yet when the match day comes around, the coaches have always been bricked and fans attacked. You would think that ...  Read the complete review
