Advantages: Nostalgic, had character Disadvantages: No longer exists! Rough area i guess
Well from reading other people's reviews on here it is clear to me that Maine Road is not popular, well not amongst the people you don't know how or why to appreciate. In my opinion Maine Road has quite a few positives over the new, prettier stadium "Eastlands." First of which is that. "Eastlands" is a poor name in my opinion and just does not fit the character of the club unlike Maine Road which I believe does. Simply because MCFC is not all about glamerous football and money, if you support them for that then you are delusional! It is about character, perhaps the one thing that has kept the club roped together, the fans of Manchester city have shown great support and strength over the years of ups and downs and I think the character of Maine Road signified this greatly. Further more Maine road had history, something I am sure of which Eastlands will probably gain, but it will take something special to beat Maine Road's history, for instance it is little known fact that Manchester UTD had to play their home matches there during the second world war as their stadium was built. Summary: Its a shame it was torn down but city did need the move |
