The Council built them a ground cos they're f**king skint (Maine Road (Manchester City FC))

Advantages: more seats, and better location Disadvantages: city have always played at Maine Road
After abandoning their traditonal badge for the three gold stars, and their traditonal club colours for the laser blue, City are set to leave Maine Road for the the new Commonwealth Games Stadium. From the clubs point of view it makes sense. They can't afford a new ground. The current one only holds about 33,000, even with the amazing temporary stands in the corners, the stands are old, and the whole ground looks like it has been designed by a 5 year old. They will be moving, free of charge to a brand new 50,000 seater stadium. For the away fans, the access is considerably better, and there is no need to go near Moss Side. But for the city fans, do they really want to have to travel to home games (although access from Preston and Stockport is better which will help most of their fans), and have to watch the game from behind a running track which will no doubt destroy the atmosphere. Also, i have no idea how much the City board pay to use the stadium each week. Overall, it will probably mean more money for the city board, and more fans that can get to see their team so it can't be that bad. Summary: |
