I recently moved away from London to the vibrant if wet city of Manchester. The main problem in this move was that I would not be able to watch my beloved Tottenham Hotspur as much as I would like. So when the opportunity to see Spurs at Maine Road came about I gladly accepted the chance.

I wasn't expecting much of a match. It was a wet Feburary afternoon and both teams weren't playing too well. Sergei Rebrov settled the match with a neat finish late on in the game but this simply increased my desire to get out of the stadium.

The atmosphere inside the ground was abysmal throughout and the much celebrated Kippax did not impress me. The City fans spent more time arguing amongst themselves than getting behind their team and the pitch was almost as bad as City's attack. To make things worse as I left the ground car alarms were going off all around and the riot police were having bottles thrown at them. I then had to endure a 10 minute walk to safety thorugh the streets of Moss Side.

City look as though they'll be relegated and the fans should be glad of a move away from Maine Road. The new ground should signify a new beginning for a club that has potential as long as it doesn't waste any more money on has-beens.
