I've always had a soft spot for St Johnstone, I'm not really sure when it all started but I do remember reading their result in the paper one Sunday, many moons ago, and blurting out 'Look, Daddy, that team's called John!'. Sad but true. And from that day forth, I adopted the Saintees as my team from north of the border. It took a long time for me to even get to Scotland, let alone see 'my' team play a game - my first trip to Perth took in a visit to Muirton Park in 1989, their old stadium in the centre of town.
