Advantages: An unique stadium
Disadvantages: none. (may be slightly biased, lol)
Ninian park is the home of Cardiff city football club
Ninian park was built a far while ago in 1910.
It has a capacity of 22,000, but beleive it or not it's record attendance was 61,556 for the Wales .v. England match in 1961.
The club, cardif city, currently play in the championship, and last year reached the final of the FA cup, narrowly losing to the premiership outfit Portsmouth 1-0. Before the recent Fa cup campaign, the averae attendance for last seasosn was roughly 13,000, but has now rocketed to 19,000 and 18,00 in the first to home games of this season, with an extra 3-5,000 season tickets sold than normal.
Despite it's shall we say 'Run down' appearance, it holds a gritty charm, perhaps added to by one of the few part standing stadiums left in the higher english league.
There are four separate stands in ninian park. At the far left out the players tunnel is the Spar family stand. Straight ahead is the popular bank, affectionately known as 'The Bob Bank'. This stand contains both standing and seating areas. To the far right is the John Smith's Grange end, holding an all standing area for home fans and a fully seated area for away fans. Finally, the stand from which the tunnel emerges is called the Grandstand.
There are many refreshment stalls around Ninian park, offering the normal choices of burgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks, with a bar in the grandstand. The club shop is also situated on the grounds, at the family stand end, selling all of the clubs merchandise.
As this is the final season to be played at ninaian, it has been dubbed the 'End of an era' season. Ambassadors of the club have chosen a commemarative kit from the 70's, with the 'End of an era' phrase stitched into the hem of the shirt.
I think i speak for every Cardiff fan when i say that Ninian park will always be greatly loved and missed, but the new stadium will be greatly anticapated.
This will be the last season played at ninian park, as we move to the new, unnamed 28,000 seater stadium at the beginning of next season.
Summary: Farewell ninian
