Advantages: 3 great stands and a nice vibe

Disadvantages: Up hill

Being a supported of Doncaster Rovers for many years, Oakwell is a ground I have been to many times as Rovers and Barnsley have locked horns a lot in recent years, mostly in our favour I might add, so my thoughts on Oakwell could be accused of being favourable for blinkered reasons, but I assure Oakwell is everything I say it is... terrific.

For a team that is now in the Championship, but was in League 1 when I first went there, to have this quality of stadium in that league was quite exceptional. From the outside it doesn't look up to much and, in truth, 1 of the stands really isn't, but the other 3 are of Premier League standard and so were Barnsley when they were built.

The pricing is fair for what you get, an excellent view, comfortable seat and plenty of leg room. The concourse refreshment prices are fairly priced and spacious areas allow plenty of room to mingle pre-match.

The tannoy system leaves a lot to be desired but I can live with that. Please note though, anyone who struggles to walk uphill should consider alternative arrangements for getting to the ground.

Summary: A really nice ground that is one to visit
