Advantages: Huge Capacity, Seems magical, Good Atmosphere

Disadvantages: No restrictions on smoking

The day I visited Old trafford was one of the most memorable days of my life. It was F.A cup Semi-final day and Middlesbrough were playing Arsenal.
I arrived in Manchester early on the Sunday morning and headed straight to the area in which the ground is situated. At first glance I knew it was going to be a really special experience.
We stood in a nearby street in the lead up to the game. The atmosphere was electric, and every fan, be it Boro or Arsenal looked happy and excited about what was to come.
As 2:00pm approached we headed over to the ground itself, after watching the Boro players arrive we headed into the ground. I was sat in the upper tier of the west stand, otherwise known as the Stretford end.
Once through the turnstiles I couldn’t wait to get my first real-life view of this legendary stadium. When it came it was simply amazing, the sheer size was the first thing I noticed Then the Structure of those incredibly huge stands. The view of the pitch, the comfort of the seats, the cleanliness of the terraces and on this day in particular the volume of the fans (especially the Boro fans). I found that Old Trafford is a brilliant place to make noise (it’s a shame some of the Manchester United fans don’t see it that way). By kick-off the place was jumping.
As I watched the game I couldn’t cease to be amazed by Old Trafford, it was better than I had ever expected. I was even impressed by the computerised video screens, which display teams, goals and substitutions.
Throughout the game the volume was kept high and the enthusiasm of the fans spread into the team. We created many chances and came very close to scoring.
However, just before half-time came a major blow. Arsenal took the lead through an own goal. The Arsenal fans at the far end went wild and Old trafford lit up. However Boro ceased the Arsenal fans almost immediately as they continued to push for a goal.
At half-time the P.A s
ystem boomed an incredibly relative song. Chumbawumba “I get knocked down, but I get up again” sounded and seemed to lift the sprits of the 29,000 Boro fans that had made the journey from Teesside.
The second half was much the same as the first, Boro dominated but couldn’t seem to get the ball in the net. The final whistle sounded and the Arsenal following gave a sigh of relief, they were on there way to Cardiff. The Boro fans continued to sing and applaud their harshly defeated team.
It seemed that Old Trafford was the perfect venue for such an emotional event. Although my team lost that day, I will always remember my first visit to Old Trafford.

I was expecting another ManU fan driveling on about their team and stadium and how their life would not not be worth living without them...

pleasantly surprised that this was not the case.

Good read..
