If your anything like me, i had trouble with my buoyancy from the start. I would be up one minute and down the next- all over the place. So i decided to take a speciality module with my local PADI instructor (for your local PADI go to their website and look up your area). My instructor took me through doing a buoyancy check in water so that i could determine how much weight i would need when diving. We also went through the technique of using your lungs to rise and fall- when you breath out you would slightly sink, and breathing in you would slightly rise. This technique took me a while to master but is fantastic when diving now. We went over streamlining technique- swimming horziontally and not over weighted. Streamlining uses less energy when swimming making dives more effortless.
I would recommend the course to anyone who hasn`t yet managed to perfect their buoyancy- it will make you a better diver and will ensure that you enjoy your dive more and harming the sea environment less!
