This stand is also where all security and CCTV operations are located. The opposite end is of course The North Stand. This is where the vociferous 'hard-core' Boro fans can be found! The Riverside Stadium is the home of Middlesbrough Football Club from the North East of England. Middlesbrough are currently playing in the English Premier League (2008-09) although they face an uphill struggle against relegation in their remaining 11 games this season. **History** The Riverside Stadium was built in 1994 which replaced their old stadium, Ayresome Park, for the 1995-96 Season. This was ideal timing. Whilst the stadium was being built, Middlesbrough managed to secure promotion from Division 1 as League Champions, and would start life at the new ground in the Premier League. The stadium was built by the docks on the ...  Read the complete review

The Riverside Stadium is the home ground of Middlesbrough Football Club, who currently play their football in the English Premier League. It is a relatively new ground, opened in August 1995 and has an all seated capacity of 31,500. Originally, the complex was enclosed on three sides, with the two corners of the west stand open, these were subsequently filled in meaning that the ground is now fully enclosed and in the process boosting the capacity by 5000 seats. It is quite a strange ground really as it appears to lack character, as a lot of these new stadiums do. The ground actually looks more spectacular from outside, its large and the steelwork above the ...  Read the complete review

Riverside Stadium (Middlesborough FC): top stadium top england game (241 words)

I would just like to thank The FA for providing a great match last night, within a great stadia, so why bother to build a new wembley, instead the 600million could be invested into the grass roots of the game to keep our england team up there at the top. This ground opened in August 1995, and at the time was famed for the time it took to build... a mere 32 weeks!!! Similar in designs to Derby's Pride park and Sunderland's Stadium of light, and is another totally new stadium, therefore the facilities are excellent. These include bars, shops and food take aways, Id recommend there puka pies at £1, but there coffee was a strong as a fortnight “two ...  Read the complete review

Saturday afternoons at the Riverside Stadium. Usually very enjoyable trips out. I know some people may say that the stadium lacks the atmosphere and noise of the old days but those people won't have been there when the team's winning and playing brilliantly. The noise is awesome (at least where I sit near the noisey north stand)and it really gives everyone a boost including the players. Okay so there are some days when the place is a bit dreary (e.g: this seasons' home tie with Charlton, anyone who attended the game will know what I mean) but in the main it's a decent atmosphere. The stadium consists of the main West stand (where the so called ...  Read the complete review

Riverside Stadium (Middlesborough FC): Who would have thought it in 1986? (469 words)

In 1986, Middlesbrough FC went bust and went into liquidation. Who at the time would have thought that Middlesbrough would be in the Premier League with a new state of the art stadium within 10 years? …. and they are still there today. Middlesbrough’s old ground, Ayresome Part was like many stadiums in the country. It was built at the turn of the last century in the middle of the town, and despite expanding over the years, had simply ran out of space for any future expansion work. As a result, the chairman Steve Gibson decided to build a new stadium on the outskirts of the town on the banks of the River Tees. In the 1994 / 95 season, ...  Read the complete review
