Advantages: Plenty to see and do!
Disadvantages: Can be spoilt if the weather is pants
For the past couple of years my Partner and I have been down to the Santa Pod for the PV show which stands for Performance Vauxhall. We have always had Vauxhalls so it makes sense that this show would be the one to interest us.
When travelling to one of these shows we have found the journey quite interesting as you find lots of other Vauxhalls all travelling down at the same time and without even trying you end up in a convoy where everyone is flashing each other and waving each other on.
This event costs around £15 on the gate but you can book in advance for £13 each. There are usually weekend and camping tickets available too.
As you drive into the Santa Pod you get a picture taken of your car and you can order these prints which can be framed or put onto an assortment of other merchandise.
There are plenty of car clubs that attend this event all displaying their pride and joys in an area called park 'n' pose. Here you will see some amazing cars and some amazing modifications.
Of course Santa Pod is most famous for it's quarter mile drag strip, you don't need a vauxhall to race down it but as you can imagine they do dominate this section. It is funny to watch as you get the typical boy races in their Nova's and Corsa's racing each other for the best times. The past couple of years there has also been a Jet car demo down the strip which is amazing to witness, ear plugs are a must if you want to get close!
There is a huge trade area where you can buy all your bits and pieces for your car and sometimes get the odd promotional freebie.
You can pay to have your car tested on the rolling road which is interesting as I remember a Zafira GSI that had every modification possible and it had only increased its BHP by about 5. The poor guy was really gutted about it, he also had to pay £40 for the pleasure of finding this information out!
There are beer tents and food vans as well as a small fun fair so there really is something for everything at this event.
We look forward to the PV show every year and we talk about it for weeks before we actually go down to it and i would recommend any Vauxhall fans to make the trip.
