St Miiren Football Club is one of the 12 clubs in the Scottish Premier League. Located in Paisley and close to Glasgow Airport the club moved in January 2009 from their home at Love Street to their new stadium at St Mirren Park, Greenhill Road, Paisley.

One of the founding and oldest clubs in Scotland, St Mirren was founded in 1877 and in 1894 took pocession of their home at Love Street. This stadium in different guises did the club well for over a 100 years but with mounting debts and the need for a new up to date stadium the board of directors did a deal with Tesco for the land at Love Street and they also agreed to build a new stadium for the club on a plot of land only a few streets away from the original ground ( a mere 5 minutes walk). This deal saw the club become one of the very few in Scottish football to be debtfree and gave the club a brand new stadium which was officially opened on 31st January 2009 when St Mirren played Kilmarnock in the league (ended in a 1-1 draw with Kevin Kyle of Kilmarnock and Denis Wyness of St Miren being the first to score in the new stadium).

The new stadium is a huge improvement on the Love Street ground, which had a lot of character and many memories for all the fans but was in need of a major overhaul or complete revamp. The new St Mirren Park holds a capacity of 8,029 in four all seater stands, and all the seats are close to the ground, the back row, Row N still allows for the players on the park to hear anything that is shouted - trust me!

The stadium has full facilities with some of the best catering available in Scottish football, the pies are well known, additionally there are plenty of toilets and in particular ladies toilets (which were in short supply at the old stadium!)

The ground is a 10 minute walk from the main railway station (Paisley Gilmour Street) and the town centre, there is also a smaller station Paisley St James located right next to the ground. There is plenty of on street car parking around the ground and locale.

The new stadium provides the club with a new corporate catering facility which is far superior to the previous facilities and gives the club the opportunity to earn some well needed commercial cash.

The ground has a great atmosphere and if the game is not up to much you can always people watch or plane watch as the airport is close by and the ground is in the flight path.

It has already held many league and cup games and recently held the Scotland Under 21 game. St Mirren Park is a great facility for St Mirren FC and should see the club and its supporters into a new era - heres hoping they continue to get great results!

Summary: St Mirren's new stadium.

That's a shame....the old ground had a name that was SO easy to remember in pub quizzes.
