The ground itself is imposing, but confusingly the best view of it is from across the river Wear. From the outside it doesn't really look like anything special, but its's once you're inside that it feels like an amazing place. I'm a Sunderland fan and have been all of my life, so my review here may just well be a little biased. I've previously held season tickets at the Stadium of Light and still get to matches when I can, finances permitting. When it first was named I wasn't sure at all about the name, but now think it suits the ground. Can't be as bad as 'Sports direct @ St. James' Park' anyway. Haha. The Stadium of Light is the best football ground I've been to. I went to Old Trafford expecting it to blow me away, but compared to my home ground it was like an old tin shed. On a matchday, the Stadium is a special place to be. As soon as you get in the vicinity of the ...  Read the complete review

Introduction: The 'Stadium of Light' is the home of Sunderland Football Club who play in the English Premier League. The stadium opened in 1997 and replaced their old home 'Roker Park' where they had played for 99 years. The ground is magnificent, and with a capacity of 49,000 (all seated) is the fourth largest in English football. The stadium got the seal of approval from the football association when two full England international matches were held there a few years ago. The Construction of the Stadium: The stadium was built by Ballast Wiltshire plc - the same company responsible for the Amsterdam Arena, the football stadium in which Ajax play ...  Read the complete review

It must be a pleasure to support your team in a studium like the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. If this stadium was not in the North of England then i think it would definetley loose some of it's appeal. Of course the stadium would be nothing without the fans inside it, and the Northern fans are the most fanatical and vocal in the country. I found the stadium quite easily by car, but had to walk quite a long way because the car parking was all occupied. There's always a good friendly buzz around the stadium as well. It's one of those grounds where you get a shiver the first time you step into the arena and the sight hits you, and after that you are ...  Read the complete review

sunderland, a shock team for the season but we all know they had the ability. And amongst teams like Leeds, they are a team they will be up there for a long yime know. With a great manager, great commited players and a great support from their satduim they have what it takes to be big and successful. They are near formidable at home and good away and with a deeper squad which Peter reid will definitely invest in they will be a title contender in the next few years. Sunderland fans watch this space as i predict they will get their chance in Man Utd first year without Sir Alex Ferguson. Good Luck ad keep up the hard work and fighting spirit. ...  Read the complete review
