Advantages: great stadium, good location, good team
Disadvantages: can be expensive
Stamford Bridge is the home of Chelsea Football club and has been the home of the club since they were formed in 1905. Over that time the stadium has gone over a number of changes and is now a great stadium. Although its capacity may not be as great as some of the other great stadia in the world it is still an iconic football ground and currently home to one of the top football teams in world football.
The capacity of the stadium is 42,055 and it has a 4 star rating from Uefa and is considered to be a A UEFA Elite Stadium. This gives it the ability of being able to host the final of the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Cup, UEFA's two premier club competitions.
There are four main stands. These are the Matthew Harding (North Stand ), East Stand , West Stand and The Shed end. The West Stand having been refurbished is now the stand with the largest capacity and has a row of executive boxes which houses the matchday hospitality guests as well as current owner Roman Abramovich.
If you want the best view it is probably recommonded to be in the west stand lower or East stand. If you want to be amongst the Chelsea fans and get in to the atmosphere and singing the shed upper or Matthew Harding Lower houses some of the more passionate Chelsea fans. The away fans are usually located in the Shed end.
The price of going to a Chelsea game can be very high especially for a premiership game or a Champions league knockout game. They do however reduce ticket prices for domestic cup games and champions league group games. It is also recommended that you get a membership if you would like to puchase tickets.
I have been to Stamford Bridge a number of times being a Chelsea fan. The first time was at the end of the 1997/98 season when I sat in the West Stand. In those days the west stand was only a single tier and had no roof so was exposed to the elements. Thankfully the weather that day was nice but not having a roof also means the sun can get in your view. Now the West Stand has been refurbished with an upper tier and exective boxes and a roof! I have also now sat in the West Stand Upper which have padded seats and usually for the more corporate people. This means it lacks atmosphere and very rarely do you get alot of people singing ,sitting in this area of the stadium. I have also sat in the east stand and Matthew Harding stand as well. I have sat in the Shed end as well but not for a game but can say the upper tier has a nice view. In the Matthew Harding stand you get most of the passionate supporters and usually you can end up standing for most of the game singing and cheering the team on. If you want to watch a game quietly witha good view this is probably not the area to choose your seats in.

- 20/03/09 Chelsea don't currently have as large a fan base as Man Utd to fill the stadium on a regular basis if it was alot larger especially against the lower teams and they have never moved from Stamford Bridge before so due to both those reasons its not good for them to move right now but may be possible some time in future! |

- 20/03/09 Chelsea really need to have a bigger stadium than the current Stamford Bridge if they are going to challenge Manchester United in the future. |
