Advantages: Home of the Hammers
Disadvantages: Run down and small.
Im not sure if this is true any more due to the different teams that are now in the premiership but Upton Park used to be the smallest Premiership ground in the country. If you have ever been there as a travelling fan, you will know that the ground surroundings are not that pleasant. Its basically surrounded with run down shops and fast food premises. The area is untidy with a lot of rubbish around. There is a Tub station roughly 5 minutes walk from the ground so its probably best to park away form the ground and get a tube in. The local pubs are dominated by "appy 'Ammers" fans with their most famous pub being the Anne Boleyn. This is a stomping ground for the die hard supporters. They have a large screen TV to show replays on during the game. This is situated in the right hand corner of the ground if you are a Visiting supporter so you get a good view of it. Although it is all seater now, it is quite old fashioned in appearance and could do with some major modifications in the future. To be the home of one of London's premiership clubs, it needs improving.

- 21/12/00 I believe (at the moment anyway) that Southampton's ground is the smallest in the Premiership. Of course they are moving elsewhere, but I believe that West Ham have work planned as well. |
