These almost empty stands, though really impressive, were just a lasting memory of the good old days of not so long ago when they were full of people. The stadium is not all new though and the away end, where I was sat, was in particularly bad condition and I certainly don't expect a restricted view, by pylons, in this day and age and certainly not for my ... more

Premium Review Valley Parade (Bradford City FC): I'll rain on their parade! (368 words)

Valley Parade is one of those grounds that has been developed slowly over the years, culminating in the impressive main stand and behind the goal where the home fans sit being bit during their 2 year stay in the Premier League. This was a necessity at the time, but by the time I went to the ground, they had dropped down to the third tier of English football and were playing my beloved Doncaster Rovers in a League game, rather than Blackburn Rovers. These almost empty stands, though really impressive, were just a lasting memory of the good old days of not so long ago when they were full of people. Premium Review A stadium too good for League 2 (392 words)

'Valley Parade' is the home ground of Bradford City football Club who currently play their football in Football League 2. In recent years Bradford City have suffered a real fall from grace and this is evident looking at their stadium. The capacity of Valley parade is 25,136, a huge stadium for a team languishing in League 2, considering other teams play in front of barely 2,000. When you look at the stadium though, you can see Bradford's Premiership days. The Sunwin and Carslberg Kop Stands are enormous, reminiscent in design to stands at Old Trafford and the Stadium of Light, they go back for eternity. The other side of the ground is a different story ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Valley Parade (Bradford City FC): On the Up (297 words)

I don't think its possible to say that Valley Parade (or the Bradford & Bingley Stadium as it has been callously dubbed) is the biggest or best football stadium in the world, but its definately on the up! It used to be just four tin huts surrounding a small square of grass and now we have a two-tier kop (Carlsberg Stand), a corner done (Does this corner have a name or is it just "t'corner"?) and now most of the Sunwin Stand done in two tier. Opposite this is the Midland Road (Allied Colloids/Ciba) stand which is one-tier and at one point was higher than the kop. At the other end is the Symphony away stand which is two-tier but very small. None of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Developements - onwards & upwards (130 words)

Valley Parade has changed beond all recognition during the time I've been watching Bradford. When I first started going regularly, me, my best mate and his Dad used to go into the shed on Midland road, loads of folk standing along the length of the pitch, no more than 10 metres from the action! Nowadays we've got proper stands on all sides, building work seemingly permananlty being undertaken. Capacity should be up to 25,000 soon and even more when the Bradford end (Symphony stand) gets sorted out. Whether it will be full is a different question, real football fans are, by and large, being priced out of the grounds all over the country. Although ...  Read the complete review
