On the Up (Valley Parade (Bradford City FC))
Member Name: killip
Advantages: Getting better, Good servie Disadvantages: Still a bit small
I don't think its possible to say that Valley Parade (or the Bradford & Bingley Stadium as it has been callously dubbed) is the biggest or best football stadium in the world, but its definately on the up! It used to be just four tin huts surrounding a small square of grass and now we have a two-tier kop (Carlsberg Stand), a corner done (Does this corner have a name or is it just "t'corner"?) and now most of the Sunwin Stand done in two tier. Opposite this is the Midland Road (Allied Colloids/Ciba) stand which is one-tier and at one point was higher than the kop. At the other end is the Symphony away stand which is two-tier but very small. None of the stand have those big protruding bars which block your view and the kop and sunwin stand look proper ace now. Its not the best stadium, as I have said, but its getting better and the service and that cannot be faulted even if their chips are expensive. Never mind the stadium, I would support Bradford City if they were only in the West Riding Cup, what difference would a stadium make? They have two terrific function rooms, one in the kop and one in the Sunwin, so they are great for events, if a little expensive. Before our kop was rebuilt but after Liverpool's kop was demolished, VP had the largest standing kop in Britain which is quite an achievement. People always complain about Valley Parade and Bradford City but my reply is there are bigger cities than Bradford without a premiership football club (i.e. Sheffield) and VP is going to be something tp be proud of. Its a brilliant place, its just Bradfordians love moaning! Summary: |
