Advantages: Huge, Great Atmousphere
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive drinks and programme
*Introduction*
When the twin towers of Wembley were felled some 6 years ago the finest stadium in the world began to be built.
With its huge arch dominating the London skyline its one not to be missed!
Although the modern stadium is slightly out of place amongst shops and houses that look like they are from the 80's its still a great looking place!
*Atmosphere*
The stadium appeared very compact when inside and this provides a great atmosphere. The pitch is really close to the stands allowing you to abuse the ref... ooops I mean cheer on your favourite players!
When it's a full house with 90,000 chanting a players name no other stadium in the world has a better atmosphere.
Every seat in the house has a good view and the seats are very comfortable (Im somewhat of a seat expert being rather large!
*History*
After the 'old' Wembley was demolished the builders set about building the 'new' Wembley in 2003 it took a huge 4 years to build and was finally opened in late 2007. It is infact the most expensive stadium in the world ever built!
*Refreshments*
Beers seem to be very expensive. I went to a rugby match and it was £5 for a pint... Rip off! Although I must say the pies they sell are divine, but hey my wife's cooking isn't up to much! The queues were fairly short for food as there were many well-staffed kiosks located throughout the ground.
After you have downed your beer you will undoubtedly need to use the 'facilities' and Im pleased to say they are of a good standard. They are by and large very clean and have the largest and most powerful handryers I have ever encountered!
The stadium contains 2,618 toilets, more than any other venue in the world.
Please be warned if you try and take any bottles of drink/water into the ground you will be asked to remove the lid incase you try and throw the bottle at an unsuspecting player you have taken a dislike to!
*Tours*
The tours are great value for money at just £15. The best part of the tour is going into the player's dressing room's... boy do they have it good! There are many photos of past 'greats' on the walls including the one and only Phil Neville. The Wembley builders seem to have missed the point; there are several mediocre premiership players while many past legends such as Gary Linker miss out!
*Music*
I cannot comprehend into words how great Wembley is for concerts. The music just sounds so good in this huge metal shell. All seats have a clear view of the stage and are very close allowing you to get up close and personal with your heroes!
*Value for money*
You can expect to pay around £45 for an England ticket so it's by no means cheap but in my opinion it's worth every penny!
Programs are a bit of a rip off at £5 but admittedly for England games they are good quality and A4 in size, which must cost a fair bit to print.
Beers seem to be very expensive. I went to a rugby match and it was £5 for a pint... Rip off! Although I must say the pies they sell are divine, but hey my wife's cooking isn't up to much! The queues were fairly short for food as there were many well-staffed kiosks located throughout the ground.
There are also several merchandise stools around the ground and also outside allowing you to pick up little souvenirs of your trip! They are pretty well priced with a wide variety of products, which makes a change.
Summary: A great stadium for football and also fab for music events!
