Wembley stadium. Never been any good.
O.K., so it has a special magic and it is a sort of spiritual home ofr place of pilgrimage. But why all the fuss about it going? It has been in a dire state for years and is in urgent need of replacement. Footy fans deserve better than this, and as it will be built on the same site, it will be called Wembley. No problem then?
I was there for a recent play-off final and I was staggered to see the clutch of portaloos dotted around the inner underpass area. The 'proper' toilets were spilling out (literally) and the stench was stomach churning.
One thing I will add, though, is that they should have use a design which allowed the twin towers to remain. they are beautiful structures and they mean a lot to foty fans the world over. Surely they could have been moved and used as a gateway or something?
