Advantages: National treasure, Atmosphere

Disadvantages: Food prices

As a big football fan I have been wanting to go to Wembley to experience the 'buzz' since it opened. I have not yet been to watch the football but did manage to get tickets to see Madonna there. So here is my review from a concert perspective.

Tickets were expensive at £65 but thats not Wembleys fault, every concert and match prices may vary so I cant comment.

Capacity also varies alot from concert to football match and is dependant on the performers stage.

The first thing that strikes you is the sheer size of the stadium, it is beautiful, amazing architecture and just looks right.

The walk down Wembley way as you approach the stadium is exciting, there is a real atmosphere which I would imagine would be even better for the football.

Entrance into Wembley is well manned, well organised and efficient. Once inside it is a maze of esculators, zig zagging up to the various levels. But its simple to follow!

Our tickets were in the third tier, the highest section and about half way back. As you walk into the stadium and look down the vertigo can set in, I was amazed at how high i was. The view was good though but thank god for the big screens!!

The facilities are ok, toilets were clean and well stocked through out, queueing was about 10/15 minutes at worst. The bars offered little choice and were a bit pricy - £3.50 for a Smirnoff ice but its the food that is priced stupidly!! £7.50 for a burger, chips and a soft drink which I think is crazy!

On leaving the stadium after the concert I was very impressed with the organisation. We decided to take the underground back to our hotel, you are ushered along wembley way up to the tube station, as there are thousands of people it is important this is done in a organised manner. As you walk along there are markers that show how long it will take to get to the station at 5 minute intervals. There was no pushing and shoving and a strong police presence in case there was any trouble.

Once in the tube station, you have six paths you can take depending on which line and direction you need. These are easily understood and the flow of people just follows the path they need. The tubes are constant, as soon as one went another came. Superb.

For once we got it right, superb stadium, fantastic public transport

Summary: Can't wait for my next visit
