Adidas Furano 3 Ladies Running Shoe
by louisechackett
Around six weeks ago I decided that I needed to do something about the fact that my weight had risen significantly over a period of a couple of years. I started eating better and in six weeks I have lost sixteen pounds but I have to say this isn't just down to a more sensible approach to eating as I have been exercising more too. I ... needed a sports shoe which would suit my needs, specifically something which would offer support for my quite weak knee. I purchased the adidas furano 3 ladies running shoe.
I was advised by my physiotherapist last year that if I were to be working out I would need a show which would be supportive for my ankle and therefore more supportive for my knee as well. I am not actually allowed to run as a means of exercise as apparently the impact would be too much on my knee but despite this fact I was told a running shoe would provide me with the most support. I purchased the adidas furano 3 running shoe from the sports direct website where they cost a reasonable £27.99. The shoes come in sizes 4 to 8 with there being half sizes in a 5 and 6 but no other strangely!
I will admit that being a girl the way that the shoe looked was an influencing factor in my purchase. The shoe does look nice though in my opinion. It is made from a textile/synthetic upper, textile inner and synthetic sole. They are predominantly white but feature a grey band around the top of the shoe and on the tongue as well as three cerise stripes which is obviously easily noticeable as the adidas brand logo. They do also come in black with the pink stripes if this would be more suited to your tastes.
The shoe is comfortable to wear which of course is the most important factor when it comes to something like this. My usual size 4 fits me perfectly so sizing seems to be quite accurate. When I tie the laces in the show I can feel my foot is well supported and I feel confident I can work out without having too much impact on my wonky knee! The ankle of the show is quite padded and pretty rigid so does make me feel reassured and the sole of the shoe is also very thick and shock absorbing which again gives me reassurance that I can work out and get fit without worrying too much about taking steps backwards with my knee. I can almost feel the shoe soaking up the pressure as I do the cross trainer in particular which of course is a positive thing.
The upper part of the show is a ventilated mesh material which I really like as I feel that my feet can breathe as I work out and thankfully the shoes don't smell despite six weeks of use! Not only do I wear these shoes when I go to the gym but I also wear them if I am heading out for a long walk as they do offer more support than any other shoe that I own.
I do think these running shoes are a great option for someone looking for a supportive shoe for working out or running. I do tend to only wear them when I know I am going to be exercising as I am not really the kind of girl who wears trainers all day as they don't go with the other clothes that I wear but for their designed purpose these shoes work really well and are ideal for me.

Etnies Autism Speaks Fader
by alfiepeaches
I'd always liked Etnies trainers as they were chunky and looked really durable plus 'skater' shoes were cool at the age I bought them. I'd always cave in and buy my usual converse though as they were cheaper and I could never resist them being my favourite shoe. I even had a entirely black pair that I managed to get away with wearing to ... school, however they started to fall apart and got pretty stinky from being wet all the time so I went on a new search for some black school shoes.
So staying at my Dads in Birmingham over the half term I dragged him and his partner round almost every shoe shop around the Bullring and the rest of the City Centre and eventually found these in Schuh. They weren't entirely black though, the big E in on the sides were lined with a silvery colour but this was never seen as the school trousers I wore were those overly flared kind from Topshop and hid this part of the shoe well. They came with silver laces too which were pretty but would get me noticed at school so I stuck with the black. The shoes cost about £45 and I knew the money would be worth it as many of my friends have Etnies shoes that have lasted a really long time. Also my feet had stopped growing at about 13 which teenagers often need to consider before spending a huge amount on such expensive shoes as it's wasteful if they're going to grow out of them pretty quick.
They did rub a little at the back for a few days while I wore them in but they were amazingly comfortable otherwise! My feet were very snugly and warm in them through the wintery and wet mornings of school and the rain never soaked through like they did with my converse which left me with soggy feet all day. They even protected me from the snow we had a few years ago! They also weren't hot in summer either so I didn't have to buy another pair.
The shoes lasted me about a year and halfs worth of wearing everyday to school, I never really wore them outside of school as I don't really like completely black shoes with most of my clothes. I'm sure they would have lasted longer but the last few times I wore them they were wet and I didn't let them dry properly and threw them under my bed and when I rediscovered them they had grown some mould on the side (this is a problem we had with the house we lived in at the time though). Otherwise I'm sure they would have lasted much longer.
Overall these shoes are well worth the money as they are extremely comfortable and very durable, plus they offer a lot of protection from the elements. Read the complete review |

Hi-tech Hiking Boots
by nodbod1
I do a lot of walking including long hill walks in the Lake District. I bought my Hi tech walking boots about 2 years ago following some advice in an outdoor shop. I always thought Hi Tech made cheap trainers that no one wanted to be seen in at school and was surprised when the outdoor shop recommended them! I don't know the exact model ... of boots that I have but I do know that they have the Ion Mask technology which is supposed to repel water. The salesman demonstrated this to me in the shop. He showed me two pieces of cardboard; one normal and one that had been subject to Ion mask technology and the water did just glide off the latter. Anyway for about £80 which is relatively cheap for good walking boots I thought I'd give them a go.
I was initially amazed at how waterproof these boots were and also at how comfy they were- they didn't need any breaking in. Having had them for two years and done quite a lot of walking in them, I am thinking of replacing them because they're not waterproof anymore. They are, however, no worse than more expensive walking boots that I've owned at this stage in their life. I must point out that I don't really look after my boots. I was advised not to wax these boots even though they're leather due to the technology used. They continue to be very comfortable and this is why I haven't replaced them yet.
Overall I'm very impressed and it has definitely improved my view of Hi Tech. Read the complete review |
