Nike Air Max 90 Trainers
by haco
The Air Max 90s were originally released as the Air Max III, but were renamed and retroed around the year 2000. These shoes are a natural progression from the Air Max 1 and the Air Max Light, and you can see that some of the design features from the earlier releases are still present. Even though this design is over 20 years old, they ... still look fresh in 2013! These Nikes are definitely up there in my list of favourite sneakers.
I bought these sneakers in the original 'Infrared' colourway (white & black, with red) which are my all time favourite colourway for the 90s. There are so so many different colourways currently available for purchase and they can be customised on the Nike ID section of the Nike website. There are also Nike x Liberty 90s available which look really sweet with the Liberty fabric, shame they're always quite expensive though. Personally, I find that some of the Ladies' styles are often quite ugly - normally they're metallic gold, silver, blue or pink etc so I usually go for men's (or junior boy's) styles, such as the Infrared. It's all personal preference, after all.
The fit of these shoes is very good & they definitely fit to size so you can order online and hopefully not have too many issue with size. They are extremely comfortable which you come to expect with Nike Airs and they are so cushioned it's like you're walking on clouds! I probably wouldn't advise that you wear them as running shoes, as it seems that nowadays there's more of an emphasis on the barefoot style shoes which are better for the joints etc. They would probably be good for the gym if you weren't planning to use the treadmill or something! for everyday casual use they are absolutely perfect and extremely well made. Obviously as the shoes get worn, they will begin to have signs of cracking, but mine have lasted over a year with moderate wear, and the only signs of wear are on the soles.
Overall these are an excellent, classic, shoe and definitely one to add to the collection. Read the complete review |

Slazenger Classic Trainers Ladies
by CosmicLove
I have had this pair of trainers for well over a year now and they're still going strong! I wear them most days to walk George (my dog) and I also wear them to the gym, so I have had a lot of use out of them.
They do look quite tatty and battered but they're not physically damaged and they're still completely in tact with no ... damage to the sole or anything. When I first got them the white was really bright but now it's discoloured from where they've got muddy and although I do give them a wipe with a wet wipe when they get dirty they don't clean up too well.
This will not matter if you're just going to wear them for the gym but for dog waking when it's muddy they're not the best trainers to wear unless you don't mind them getting a bit dirty. The laces are a little stiff and dirty looking from where mud and stuff has dried onto them but these can be changed so it isn't that much of an issue! The trainers are really comfortable and quite lightweight and the sole is thick with grips on the bottom.
The design of the trainers is not really anything special but they're nice enough for wearing casually, eg when exercising. I have the white and purple ones but they're also available in black & pink and blue and white. The slazenger logo is discreet and the overall design is very simple which I like as they do not look chavvy or make it look like I am trying to look cool or make a statement by wearing them as they are not as bright or detailed/eye catching as some brands of trainers.
The trainers are versatile enough to wear with a range of different trousers including leggings, running tights, sweatpants, cycling shorts etc. I don't wear trainers with jeans etc as I only wear them for exercise rather than fashion but if you do like wearing trainers instead of ballet pumps/heels etc then I'm sure they'll sill look nice and as I said above they are very versatile.
The trainers are made from synthetic material but they are leather coated. The inside of them is coated in a soft material which soaks up sweat so the shoes don't feel too soggy when I'm exercising and sweating like crazy. The inside of them when it does get wet doesn't take that long to dry. They're very comfortable to walk in and they support my feet and ankles rather than feeling flimsy and they stay on my feet without feeling loose or like they might slip off, and the sole is nice and thick & sturdy and it is not slippery at all because of the grips, so when I am on the exercise equipment or walking on smooth flooring I don't feel like I might slip over as they have a very good grip.
The back of the trainers is quite high compared to my other pair of trainers as the design is not dipped or curved, however the back of these trainers do not rub against my ankles, nor do they make my toes feel squashed and they are not at all narrow either, however I did find that they're on the small side length wise so instead of getting a size five which is my usual size in trainers I got a size six as even the five and a half was too tight. The fact that the trainers are available in half sizes is an advantage though in my opinion.
I wouldn't pay the full price for these trainers but for the price I paid I'm really happy with them and I think that they'll last me for at least another year! They're very sturdy, good quality and comfy, it's just a shame that they look so tatty but I have got a lot of use out of them so I can't really complain. I only paid around £15 for them which was a bargain, and the retail price is around £35. I wouldn't pay the retail price because for that amount of money I would want them to stay looking nice for longer than these have (they began looking worn after a couple of months and after a year they are very tatty looking).
Overall I recommend these trainers and I give them four out of five stars. Read the complete review |

Nike Court Tradition 2 Trainers
by milmol7
**BARGAIN NIKES**
I spotted these Nike trainers being sold off cheaply in the Nike Outlet store for £12 a pair - too good for me to resist. I think (being in the outlet at that price) they may be slight seconds, and they are available from Sports Direct £18-£30 depending if you can fit in child-sizes (usually up to 5) or not! I'm ... not particularly a label-chaser, but I do like good sports labels, as long as they aren't too over-stated. What I liked about these (apart from the price, obviously) was that the styling isn't "in your face" - not brash or garish, as I'll try to explain...
**THE LOOK**
The shoe itself looks basically completely white and requires closer inspection to pick out the colour details. This is definitely something which appeals to me, rather than brightly coloured ticks and stripes on show. The ones I bought were trimmed in turquoise blue. The only main colouring is round the ankle and the top edge of the tongue where the blue trim is visible around 3-4mm. The main "tick" on the side is silver, trimmed in silver stitching, which is subtle. There is white stitching on the sides of the shoe which is (strangely!) in a kind of adidas stripe pattern. Both sides of the shoe are identical. There is also a single line of stitching around the upper edge of the sole which is in the same blue as the trim around the ankle. On the outside edge of the sole is embedded a small (1cm) clear plastic circle with the word "NIKE" in it. At the top of the tongue, the Nike tick and name are stitched in, in very pale silver stitching, the word is only about 1cm high, so again - subtlety in the design. The final bit of trim was a metal tag threaded onto the laces which was white metal embossed with NIKE, but this was one thing I didn't like, so I've removed that, I felt it made the trainers much more a young person's trainer, and didn't suit me at all.
**THE FEEL**
I don't know what the material of the trainers outer is - obviously not leather at £9! - but they are solid outers rather than fabric. They have a sturdy feel to them although not so rigid as to feel uncomfortable when you're wearing them, in fact they feel quite flexible. The material around the ankle and heel is the same as the underside of the tongue, which is a padded soft fabric, feeling good when you have the trainers on. The underside of the foot has a soft, almost downy, feel to it. The shoes are really lightweight and very comfortable.
**SEE YOU ON THE COURT?**
These trainers are named "Court Tradition". I guess in the main these days it's often just a case of giving your latest shoe a name, and in this case, I think it's a reference to the slightly retro look of Tennis shoes of the 80's. But just a few 'serious' thoughts if you are considering them for court sports... I play a bit of badminton and whilst the soles are white and non-marking, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them for that. That's a personal opinion though as I prefer predominantly fabric shoes for badminton. I've never played tennis or squash, so can't comment on their suitability for those sports, but if you are considering these as a sports shoe rather than a fashion shoe, I would definitely say there is plenty of support to the foot, in terms of the shoe's structure, and support for the ankle/heel area in the design of the shape of that area of the shoe. There is also a substantial good grip on the sole.
**MY VERDICT**
These shoes are available at a great price and have a look which really belies that price tag. They feel great and look the business - a genuine bargain. Read the complete review |
