As some of you may be aware if you have read any of my recent reviews, one of the things I have taken up recently is running. I am not training for a dec/hecathalon, not planning to run any marathons or try and break any world records, I am just doing it for a bit of fun and relaxation. Running with my headphones on, my music blaring, the wind blowing through my hair all just really does it for me and lets me chill out and unwind after a hard day at work. But that does not mean I take it any less seriously.....
The most important thing about running, other than finding your own pace, is comfort. And if you have the wrong pair of shoes, your feet are the ones that will pay the price. The result: no more running!
These K-Swiss Blade shoes are especially designed with optimising your running experience. K-Swiss have long established themselves as a brand that provides good quality, luxury footwear that is built to last and, once again, have designed here a shoe that is a runners dream come true!
First of all, the shoe itself weighs in at a very minimum 9.2 ounces and has a lightweight mesh Upper that allows air to free-flow around your feet meaning essentially that they get less hot and sweaty when you are running. And though this may sound like a gimmick, as I first thought the first time I heard of this in a running shoe, the truth is it really does work! Of course, of an evening when a chill starts to settle in, this can also mean your tootsies get a little cold if you decide to run without socks but it is nice wearing running shoes that give your foot ample chance to breathe and lets be honest, there's little worse than hot, sweaty feet is there?
The Mid-sole is constructured of something called Superfoam and this works in a similar fashion to the Memoryfoam you find in pillows and also helps in making these one of the most comfortable running shoes on the market! Running in these is a little like running on little cushions of air and certainly for those who do a lot of running on paths and roads, you will definitely notice the difference between these and most other brands! An advantage of this is that you then feel perfectly as though you can run further for longer, so as you can well imagine, it is almost as if these shoes reward you for purchasing them by helping to boost your fitness!
If Forrest Gump was real, these are definitely the shoes he would have wanted to wear. Priced at a little under £50 from all good stockists (though I have seen them going for cheaper since I bought my pair!), they won't break the bank either!
One of the best things about these is the fact that they don't take much breaking in. I won't say they provide perfect comfort straight away but it doesn't take long for these to lose the stiff, new shoe feel you often get with new running shoes and before long you are quickly wondering why you didn't buy a pair of these sooner!
I have had my pair now for a little under three months and would not part with them for the world! They are ideal for what I want and I think even serious professioonal runners would get a lot back from wearing these ~ they have obviously been designed by somebody who actually runs which is always a good thing. Too much these days, emphasis is put on how good a shoe looks and not on how it delivers in comfort and durability. This is my first pair of K-Swiss shoes, though I have long heard good things about them, but one thing is for certain ~ this will not be my last pair, though hopefully I won't be needing another for quite some time!
