**What is it / Why Buy?** The Keen MERCER MJ CNX is a totally new concept, to me at least - fashionable, femenine sports shoe suitable for low impact type sports - mainly walking and cycling. They're called MJ as they're in a mary jane (flat sole, ballerina type pump with a bar over the body of the foot). I bought these because they are very nice looking, I'm not a trainer type person and I'm never going to be, I feel uncomfortable in trainers and I prefer a more ladylike shoe. **Price and Availability** You can buy the Keen MERCER MJ CNX in many dedicated sports shops but not being the expert in that arena (I play golf!) I chose to buy mine from Amazon for £62.50 including free postage and packing. I think this is a fair price as they're specially made shoes built to last, yes you can get a bog standard pair of trainers for £20 which would make your feet sweaty or even a £10 pair of pumps which would rub over time and cause blisters (then fall apart), so I saw my purchase of Keen MERCER MJ CNX as a bit of an investment. **Looks** The Keen MERCER MJ CNX is available in a variety of colours (burgundy, black, mustard, khaki and sky blue), the picture on DooYoo is a burgundy red but mine are a sky blue colour and they look great with jeans, shorts, leggings and pretty much anything. They do look sportier than normal mary janes, but they are a great hybrid shoe in terms of looks. The upper of the shoe is a mix of breathable mesh and suede and the sole is made of rubber which has a great amount of grip moulded into it. Rather than being a button close as many mary janes are the shoes have an adjustable velcro strap. Overall they're the nicest looking sport shoe I've ever seen, and by that I mean they aren't bright white trainers, nothing wrong with that, but if it's just not your thing, these Keen MERCER MJ CNX are much better. **Specs** Shoes, having specifications? Yes, these shoes have - - A stremlined interior (this reduces rubbing, pressure sores and blisters) - A metatarsal ridge for a natural fit (a bump under your foot which cradles and cushions it, making walking very comfortable indeed) - Breathable mesh (no hot sweaty feet, this means you can wear them without socks which looks much nicer) - Multi Directional Grooves (the shoe moulds to, and moves with the foot) - Toe protection (no painful impact pains in your nails and toes from walking) **In Use** These shoes are incredibly easy to wear, in that they are very versatile in terms of what they go with, and they are incredibly comfortable to wear from the moment you put them on. I use them for short (ish) walks of around five to ten miles, they're great on all terrains, and in all weathers, too, though the upper isn't waterproof and I'd always use a moulded welly boot for very wet or snowy weather. From March to October though, the Keen MERCER MJ CNX is the shoe for me. I occasionally use them for cycling too, though I don't cycle as often now I have a little girl. They're great on the bike, as the grip on the shoe connects with the grip on the pedal making for very easy pedalling, no slipping off. Over a year since I bought the Keen MERCER MJ CNX, they're as good as new, they can be wiped clean with a cloth and the velcro is in great condition. There's no doubt that the Keen MERCER MJ CNX are well worth the money, as they're very very well made indeed and will last me years to come. I am looking forward to using them on holiday for runs on the sand, and during my next pregnancy, as they're just so comfortable and I should be just about able to get away with wearing them in the office (though I am considering buying them in black so I have a range to choose between, black mary janes are always in fashion). **Overall** I can't recommend the Keen MERCER MJ CNX enough, I've never seen shoes like them before and if it wasn't for some random clicking about on Amazon over a year ago I'd never have known they existed. For me, they're the nicest looking low impact sports shoes you can buy for women, if you're not into wearing trainers, and they are very comfortable and fashionable to boot. Whether you're pushing a pushchair around the streets, walking a five mile park expedition, or cycling to the shops, these shoes fit the bill perfectly. I highly recommend a purchase of these shoes, especially as I am considering a second one! A 5 star rating for me, I cannot find fault with them and they are as good as the day I bought them. Very impressed and very happy.
