Advantages: Good size, Nice jewel and colour
Disadvantages: Poor sole, Thong hurts
I generally hate the summer even in the UK as I hate getting hot and bothered, I get very annoyed (yes very). So the thought of going on holiday to Turkey filled me with a sweaty horror; I wanted to buy clothing that would help keep me cool and I knew I would definately need something for my feet so I did not burn them walking on the searing hot ground. I basically needed a shoe that is versitile for sand, sea and concrete so I started looking for a flip flop.
I looked around a bit and did consider buying a supermarket own brand pair for about £4 but then remembered a holiday to Germany where my friends show broke whilst walking on a history tour; I did not want to relive her pain. I then decided to look for a slightly higher price bracket of flip flop to get me through the holiday and even more to come and I found the Les Temps Des Cerises on Spartoo.co.uk for £11 at a reduced price and with 22 loyalty points.
On Spartoo the flip flops are available in sizes 3-7 and the colour black which was ideal for me as I thought black goes with anything and everything in general. The upper, insole and sole of the flip flop are made from rubber and are in the thong style.
When I recieved the sandals they were wrapped in a polythene bag and then the usual cover bag, I did not expect much else as flip flops do not usually come with boxes. When I got them out of the bags they had the usual rubbery smell of a new flip flop, they are the thong style and have the three push through attachments of the straps on the sole. There is also a nice jewel on the strap which is sparkly in the sun. The sole looked a nice thickness which I was impressed with as it is not great to feel like you are walking on the floor bare footed anyway.
So these slip flops are quite good value for money although are not greatly comfortable. I do not know whether the lack of comfort comes from the way I walk or just the horrible nature of a thong strap but I felt like my toes were going to be broken by the hard rubbery middle; next time I will buy the sandals with an overstrap. The sole was a nice thickness and allowed for my feet to make an imprint on the insole without crushing the sole so much that I may aswell have been walking barefoot. However, I am only 57kg so I would not recommend the sole for anyone much heavier as even my feet inprinted into the rubber well. The soles scuff easily which is a disappointment which makes the flip flops look like they have been worn for a long time even though I had only worn them for one week; I was pleased I jad bought black as it made them not look dirty.
The sizing is about correct as I am a 6.5 - 7 and I bought a 7 in these that fitted me fine, they are not made for wide feet though so would be careful if yours are wide.
I do think that next time I purchase any flip flops I will fo for a cheaper pair as these did not live up to my expectations of the mid range branding sandal.
Summary: An average pair of flip flops.
