The Nike Dunk, but perhaps Nike more so, is synonymous with basketball, and it is not difficult to tell why! This is a style of trainer which possess comfortability, protection, durability and style in abundance. Therefore, meaning that the Dunk is a great trainer for those seeking to "pick up" basketball as a hobby, or even those who want a trainer suited for outdoor, or streetball, use!
These trainers are undoubtedly comfortable, which is a little surprising because these aren't the heaviest or greatest padded of basketballs trainers available. I have been able to play for hours without so much as feeling a little discomfort or ache within my feet, especially not the balls of my feet which tend to get the most punishment when playing. I, however, opted to change the insole to one which absorbed shocks due to my ailing knees. But this is not a reflection upon the trainers, just personal preference to avoid the consequences for playing hours on end.
As for protection these are well-built, and engineered, to provide such a thing. The lo-tops slightly support the ankle, which is important because if you're a little unsteady - which would be true, especially on a loose streetball surface - you can be prone to do some serious damage. The only reservation I have, or rather recommendation, is the fact that this shoe - being the one on shown - is a 'lo-top' which, whilst providing some level of protection, undoubtedly provides a lot less than the 'hi-top' version of the Dunks! So if you have the option, or can afford to pay the extra, I'd suggest you strongly consider the 'hi-tops'.
The durability of this trainer is phenomenal and mine survived consistent use, of about a year - varying lengths of use, i.e. 3-5 hours in the summer, to 1-2 in autumn. The only thing which gave way was the grip of the sole, but this is to be expected as I was playing on a loose gravelly surface, but even when worn down I rarely slipped and hurt myself. The only thing which gives away, after a while, is the toe which always seems to crease, but this is only notable in terms of ruining the 'freshness' of the trainer, and it can be stopped with the protection of a sneaker-shield which can be bought for around £10.
The style of these trainers is perhaps most notable when it is understood that the design has been consistently raved about since '85 when it was first released. Perhaps more so when it is understood that Michael Jordan released his own, and still continues to do so, trainers which verbatim copied the Dunks, which is furthermore a testament to the comfortability and durability. Even if you're not looking for a nice pair of basketball trainers, you'd be smart for buying these for their aesthetics.
As I have previously stated this is a trainer, of a brand which, is synonymous with basketball, and therefore should not be sniffed at, especially considering you can get them for a budget price! I'd recommend these trainers to anyone, they offer four essential features in abundance, comfortability, durability, protection and style!
Well i have always been a fan of brand named trainers, but i had never heard of Nike Dunk. I saw these on the shelf though and really liked the look of them, and at just £40 i thought i would give them a try.
As far as i know these do come in many different colours but the ones i purchased were pink and grey. They are pink on the toe, then Grey in the middle and back, with white spots on which i felt added to the pattern and made it appear better. The trainers have the well known logo on the side, a large pink tick, which thins out round the back of the trainer and then enlarges to another tick so you have the tick appearing on both sides.
The words nike are printed on the back of the trainer in pink, and also appears on the tongue which is white, with the pink nike in letters and the logo tick also. The soles of the shoes are pink with patterned grips on, which makes it easier for walking omn slippy surfaces although i wouldent say they are the best gripping
trainers i have ever owned.
Well i have walked for miles in these trainers and i have never had any problems, no hurting feet or anything, also they don't make my feet sweat, like some trainers have done in the past. The bottom of the shoes feel really comfortable that you could literally just wear these all day and not want to take them off. They are also pretty durable, i have had these a while now and they are still in pretty good condition, minus a bit of dirt, especially on the white laces, but these can be removed and washed.
My overall opinion
I would certainly recommend these to anyone, they are so comfortable to wear, and they look good also, the colour mixed blend so well together. They are very durable and have not fallen apart like some trainers can do. I would buy these again, but i do always like to try out different trainers, so i buy different brands all the time, but there would be no reason not to come back to these again at some point. Maybe next time i will try them in another colour but at the time these were the only design the shop had. I do know prices can vary, so you are best to shop around first before you buy the first pair you come to.
