I have used Clover for many years. It has now changed. It degenerates very quickly if left out, leaving a melted sediment which is nasty. Why change something which was fine before. I think it's now horrible and will only buy it if on offer and have to remember not to leave it out on the surface as it melts straight away even in an unheated kitchen. What a disappointment.

Like many other reviewers on here I have been using and enjoying Clover for a long long time, however after being out of the UK for 6mths I went on a fridge / larder-stock-up shopping trip and unfortunately bought 4 tubs of Clover. On first opening the tub I knew immediately something was different. ... . . . . . . Colour and texture had both changed and the taste was like a cheap, greasy margarine. I can't believe that the manufacturers would change such a great tasting and popular product for the worse, it's gloopy, greasy, artificial looking and totally yucky !!I won't be buying this ever again

Nifty advertising doesn't change the fact that this stuff is muck. Are we genuinely concerned about how easy it is to spread butter straight from the fridge? Stick with butter folks and shun these adulterated, factory-produced products. In its defence, it's at least not as bad as that abomination "Olivio", truly truly dreadful.

I made the big mistake of buying about 10 tubs of Clover when it was on offer for £1 per tub and stored them in my freezer. However, unbeknown to me, they had changed the recipe to something resembling horrible cheap marg. I wrote to Dairycrest to complain as I thought there had been a fault in production, and I wanted my ten pounds ... Read the complete review

After buying clover for 20 years over night they had changed it, i knew as soon as i opened it something had been changed, not only does it taste like margarine its very greasy and a odd colour. I rang dairy crest who sent me 2 vouchers to get me to try another dairy crest product!! I will say for everyone missing clover i bought ... Read the complete review

As you can read in this forum Clover have turned a deaf ear to complaints made about this once loved product. I will simply say its still Yellow but has the taste and consistency of soft candle wax. Not for our family anymore.

What have they done to Clover? It's awful - and I don't remember them telling us it had changed? Cheap and nasty & no doubt they are expecting huge profit increases but not from me because I shan't be buying another tub. Very disappointing. It used to be very buttery but now it just feels and tastes like any other margarine.

Having like many people below been a loyal 'Clover' customer for in excess of 20 years, I've been really dismayed at the new product. Not only does it not taste nice but the consistency is awful! As well as a price increase I have also noticed the use by dates reduce measurably. Usually a tub would have a use by date of 2 months in the ... Read the complete review

Any one noticed that the Clover tubs no longer have "churned like butter" written on them? The reason being, it's not! Dairy Crest moved production from Shropshire to Liverpool, at the same time they changed the recipe and production method, but have been very quiet about it!

...but I have to vent.Dairy Crest are idiots. What are thinking changing a recipe that has been beloved by their customers for decades? And how dare they dictate how much fat we should be eating without telling us. If I wanted to eat less fat I'd buy Clover Light, and if I didn't care I'd buy butter. Now I have to find another spread that melts properly to cook with, as well as tastes good on bread and melted into crumpets. If they ran that ad again now where the guy eats corn on the cob with a knob of Clover melting into it, they'd have to change the tear in his eye to a look of disgusted tolerance and suppressed fury. Yuk. Idiots. Now buying Lurpak.

Shame on you Dairy Crest for changing the recipe with out telling your customers !. I to have been noticing the colour, taste, the cheap plastic tubs with the not very good lid, but above all heart burn city. Many years ago my grandmother who lived a good healthy life apart from her ulcer passed away aged 92, a couple of years ago. ... Read the complete review

I am disgusted with the new taste of Clover and can assure you after using it for over 20 years i will never use it again, when i telephoned to make a complaint they said they have taken the fat content and made it lower well i aint being funny but aint that what the light one is for and if you compare them with Utterly Butterly we are just getting that but in a Clover tub. I will never use this product again.

My husband and I have been loyal fans of Clover for at least 20 yrs and have suddenly noticed a big change. The texture, colour and taste are all unattractive, more like a cheap margerine. It has a matt appearance, doesn't spread in the same way and there is simply NO buttery flavour. We would like an explanation from Dairy Crest - did they think no-one would notice? They will lose a lot of customers - we are going to try another brand or just go back to pure butter and spread less thickly!

I used to like Clover and we bought it every week. Lately it seems less buttery, more like ordinary margarine. Have they changed the recipe. If so, this customer has noticed. Maybe it's time to switch to butter. The latest batch seems rather watery/oily. Not the buttery flavour I am used to.

I try not to buy real butter as its really bad for you generally, but I love the taste. This is a compromise as it is churned, has half the saturated fat and has lots of other things added to it to make it taste like butter but be better for you. It comes in a yellow container with a sealable lid that clicks into place. It has ... Read the complete review

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has noticed a distinct change in Clover spread, I'm really disappointed with the change, but also the lack of publicity from Dairy Crest regarding the change. Will not be buying it in future, despite having enjoyed it for years.

Having used Clover for the last decade and more, I'm really disappointed - the change to the recipe is obvious - the spread both looks and tastes just like other butter substitutes. I've found myself buying it recently only out of habit, and am considering either going back to butter or using one of the other brands. If I'm going to pay high prices, I'd rather have something that tastes good, and equally, why pay a high price for some disgusting emulsion - might as well get Utterly Butterly; same taste, cheaper. Dairy Crest, you just lost a customer.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has noticed the change in Clover!! I'm very disappointed as it is now very runny and a brighter yellow in colour. I used to love Clover and bought it on a weekly basis for my family but I will not be purchasing it any more! I can't believe the manufacturers have not notified consumers of the obvious change in recipe. I think they will find that sales of their now inferior product will drop conisiderably. Shame on you Dairy Crest, you will regret this change!!

I've been enjoying Clover for many years and I'm quite astonished that they'd make such a drastic change to the recipe and think we wouldn't notice. This was THE only spread that lived up to it's claim of tasting like butter. I actually preferred it to butter! - Now it's just plastic and watery and I won't be purchasing it again.
