Advantages: Yummy; Low in calories; Wicked cheese and onion flavour
Disadvantages: Hard to open
I brought these Laughing Cow Light Deli With Onion the other day because I remembered reading a review on here about them and they sounded yummy. You get 8 squares of soft cheese for £1.49 but a lot of places have got them on special offer at the minute because they are new.
The cheese is wrapped in foil like the normal Laughing Cow but they are squares not triangles, they're proper hard to get into as well because the foil hasn't got the little tab that you pull to open them.
The only difference between this and the normal Laughing Cow cheese is that this has got a yummy onion flavour, it's just right and not too strong. The cheese is smooth and mega creamy, it's a very faint colour and I always think Laughing Cow look like they're going to be proper bland but they're not. This one deffo isn't because the taste of the onion comes through the cheese wicked. The cheese has got a lovely rich flavour and it spreads good on food.
One square will do 2 crackers quite thick or you could stretch it to 3 crackers if you have the cheese spread thinner. I love it on crackers because the cheese has got such a delish texture that it makes then not taste so dry and the flavour comes through proper nice. I was surprised at how nice these were because I think a lot of onion flavoured things are disappointing, this one is perfect though and even though the onion is quite faint it brings out the flavour of the cheese and makes the Laughing Cow lovely and tangy.
Last night I had one on a jacket potato and it was yummy but this cheese didn't melt into the potato as good as the normal Laughing Cow triangles, I think that's because the cheese is a bit more solid and not quite as creamy as the triangles. The texture is gorgeous but it's deffo more like Dairylea than Laughing Cow, it hasn't got that weird sticky feeling that Dairylea has got though and is more creamy and rich.
I'll deffo buy these again because they're not much dearer than the triangles and are loads tastier, I don't think they're actually NICER because Laughing Cow is yummy anyway but they're a wicked change and so yummy that I'll buy them again and again. They also do Blue Cheese and Goats Cheese in the same Deli range but they didn't have them in Tesco the other day so I'll be hunting for them in Sainsburys because I deffo want to try them.
