      .

I like the odd Sandwich on Meat paste, and I think it is also tasty on Toasted Thick Bread. Always looking to economise We picked up a jar of this in Sainsburys the other day, as the price was quite appealing.

This cost a bargain 24p for the 80g jar. This is found around the Jam and spreads aisle in Sainsburys. This label is their budget brand, but I quite like some of the cheaper items from Supermarkets.

This is in a glass jar with a screw top lid. You can see the beige coloured paste through the jar and this has a white label around the middle with the Orange writing on it which the Basics brand has.

This paste was jsut as thick as the brand named ones. IT spread easily enough and didn't tear the Bread.

The smell of this was lovely. I normally get a paste which is just the 1 kind of Meat, so it was nice to get the flavours of Chicken, Ham and Beef. It is nice and Meaty, and although I think the main taste in here is Beef, you can taste the lighter taste of Chicken mixed through.

This tasted rich enough, but I would say there isn't as much flavouring as the brand named one. It is good enough for what it is, and you can afford to have a thicker scraping of this on.

I will buy this again, and will look out for any other Pastes in this range.

A Nice Meat Paste From The Basics Range At Sainsburys.

While I only live a couple of minutes away from my workplace I try to keep myself in the routine of coming home at lunch times instead of eating in the canteen at work as it saves me a small fortune.

I often find myself getting bored of the same sandwiches after a couple of days so I have lots of different spreads and pastes and things just to try and give my lunchtimes a bit of variety and stop me getting bored of the same old thing.

This chicken, ham & beef paste is available from Sainsburys for just 26p and for this price you get a 75g pot of paste which lasts a couple of days in our house with two or three people having sandwiches.

The paste is provided in a little glass pot and because it's from the basics range it really does look basic with just a paper label which displays all the usual nutritional information, ingredients etc.

This paste is a biege/grey kind of colour and is completely smooth. It spreads very well on bread or toast and has quite a rich taste to it. It does not taste as strong as fresh pate or anything but it has a lovely meaty taste to it that really brings some substance to my sandwiches. This paste works very well with some salad or instead a nice chunk of warm freshly baked baguette. The paste does have a slightly salty taste to it but nothing overpowering and while I can't pick out the flavours of the chicken, bacon, ham & beef individually there is lots of flavours to this paste and it does have a lovely meaty flavour to it which is really enjoyable.

I think that the price of this is very reasonable and it does make a nice change to the usual ham or marmite that I have. There is not too many calories in this paste and I do enjoy it on the occasions that I have it. A jar should be used within 3 days once opened and this is always the case in my house.

I rate this paste 4/5 as it's a good price, recyclable jar and the only downside is the slightly salty taste.
