      Not good!

I love jam and usually stick to strawberry jam. However spending a lot of time touring with my mate in a caravan (and at the moment staying at her house whilst we house clear it as she's moving out soon) I have found myself having to compromise rather alot! She loves what I consider to be more unusual jams and the other day she did us some toast for breakfast. Poised for my cup of tea and jam on toast I was gutted when I spotted this dark looking stuff on my toast and immediately realised she'd gone all fancy and bought this when I wasn't looking! The Packaging: 454g glass jar that has a black screw on/off lid to the top of it. On the front of the jar there is a picture of damsons on there and a cream section of colour and I'm told that it is Sainsbury's Damson Jam and there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown, I'm also told that it is suitable for Vegetarians and the size is listed (as I have stated already). Other information given on the jar includes being told how to store it, ingredients and a full nutritional rundown is given and contact details for sainsbury's are, as usual on Sainsbury's own branded products given. The Jam Itself: Even though I was disappointed when I saw it once she told me it was damson jam I was a little bit excited to try something different to be honest! However this I really didn't like one bit. Dark sticky and very smooth jam this is highly sweet and doesn't taste really like any fruit I've ever tasted before. I mean I do know what a damson tastes like and this to me didn't even taste fruity. Blindfolded I wouldn't know what fruity jam offering I was eating at all! My mate though likes it but questioned why she replied cos it's sweet and that it really is and to be fair to it it tastes naturally sweet and not full of sweeteners but there for me, that's where the compliments stop for this. Yep it holds well and doesn't turn to a syrupy liquid when it meets warm/hot food but it lacks flavour for me and personally I wouldn't want to ever eat it again!
