*just before i write the review- just to let you know that the picture shown here is not the correct picture. The lemon curd pictured is the normal tesco range, not the tesco finest range!*

I decided that I needed to change my breakfast spread (from chocolate spread) when I sat there eating it with my 4 year old niece and my mum told me I needed to grow up. So I reverted back to my favourite childhood breakfast spread - the amazing lemon curd.

I bought Tesco's finest* lemon curd in a 312g jar for 1.75. The taste is quite hard to describe - obviously it has a lemon taste but without the bitterness. Instead the bitterness is replaced with a sweetness and yet it still remains tangy.

This product is the best version of lemon curd I have ever had (even better than I remember as a child).

I don't normally pay attention to the ingredients or nutritional value of food, because quite frankly I'm not that bothered. However, I know that for allergy reasons and health reasons other people are interested in this information, so I will provide this below.

Nutritional value (100g) - taken from the jar:

      Energy 1445kj/345 k cal
      Protein 2.3g
Carbohydrates 60.9g (of which sugars 59.7g)
Fat 10g (of which saturates 6.4g)
      Fibre 0.2g
      Sodium 0.1g
      Salt 0.25g

I know most people that are interested in the nutritional value are mainly interested in the calories so I will give you a better idea of how many calories each portion will contain. The jar states that in every tablespoon (15g) there are 55 calories. I would say that for two rounds of bread, I use ¼ of a tablespoon of lemon curd (I haven't actually measured it- so don't quote me on that) which equates to about 14 calories.

      Ingredients (taken from the jar):
      White sugar
      Pasteurized egg
      Water
      Butter
Lemon juice from concentrate (lemon juice, preservative - Sulphur Dioxide).
      Gelling agent
      Flavouring

Additionally the jar states that the product is suitable for vegetarians but that it cannot guarantee the product to be nut free. Although it states that the recipe and factory contain no nuts.

To sum up, if you are a lemon curd fan like me then buy this lemon curd - it is amazing! If you have never tried lemon curd then your breakfasts must be rubbish!
