      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I eat this everyday for lunch

I dont have a lot of time in the day to do anything let alone make my lunch in the mornings. I do it the night before, and to save even more time I always buy a tesco sandwich filler each week. You can get a large box or a small one, and there are many flavours. The best is chicken and bacon, which only comes in the small size, lasting around 3 days worth of sandwiches if you dont spread it too thick. My other favourite is tuna, sweetcorn and mayonnaise. They are quite healthy, although they do contain mayonnaise and its not low fat. You can also get coronation chicken, egg mayonnaise, and many others, they often introduce new flavours.

It costs between £1.40 and £1.90 a pop, with the large version coming in at £2. Theres also a deal on most of the time for £2.50 for two small tubs. If you add this, a loaf of bread and some salad, it comes in cheaper than buying a lunch everyday, and you can make your sandwich as big or small as you like. It tastes much better, fresher and is really easy and quick to use as you just scoop it out of the tub with a spoon.

If you get bored of eating bread, they also make a great filler in salads.

The chicken one comes with actual chunks of chicken and and bacon so it has a nice texture.

If you like to have a tasty homemade lunch, but want to save time making it and cant be bothered to buy all the ingredients then I can recommend any of these sandwich filler flavours. Once opened they last at least 3 days before they turn.

~ TESCO CHICKEN AND BACON FILLER ~

I work full time and prefer taking a packed lunch, mostly sandwiches for lunch rather than buying. I love my sandwiches nice and fresh and I am also trying to eat health whilst saving my pennies in this current economic climate. I love meat based sandwiches and after my experience with the Chicken and Sweet corn filler, I was determined there was still a sandwich filler out there which would quench my needs. So back again to the supermarkets I went, in search of another sandwich filler for my daily sandwiches. Although I love meat, I do not take sea food so my choice is a bit limited.
As the search continued, I found the Chicken and Bacon filler in Tesco. My mind just went Chicken and Bacon in one mix, that's fantastic so I decided to give it a try.

        ~AVAILABILITY, VISIBILITY AND PRICE ~

The Chicken and Bacon Filler is available in refrigerators in the cooked meats section. I have currently seen this product available only from Tesco. I could not find it in Sainsbury and ASDA. It is packed in clear plastic containers with the label highlighted with red, orange and yellow colours. These colours distinguish the Chicken based fillers from the other sandwich fillers available in the same refrigerators. In Tesco, the 230g size filler is currently on offer, one for £1.67 or any 2 for £2.50. You can therefore pick and mix any two combinations of sandwich filler products on offer.

The product has to be kept refrigerated and once opened, has to be used within 2 days. It is important to use the filler by the 'use by date' shown on the label. The filler is not suitable for freezing.

        ~MY VIEWS ~

The product is affordable and value for money, more so when it is on offer. The ready made Chicken and Bacon sandwich costs £2.00 in Tesco, but using the Chicken and Bacon sandwich filler for a fresh home-made sandwich reduces the cost to about 30 - 40p, making this very economical especially if I consider I would spend at least £10.00 in a week on sandwiches alone. There is very little or no wastage as the contents can easily be used within the 2 days recommended.

It is quick and easy to prepare sandwiches and the mayonnaise base is ideally thick and can be scooped out and spread onto the bread without any mess, just the right consistency. This is a major plus for this filler when compared to the Tesco Chicken and Sweet corn filler.

I have been having the Chicken and Bacon sandwiches from the day I discovered this filler and I really look forward to my lunch. You can taste both the bacon and the chicken and meaty chunks in the mixture give the sandwiches a nice chewy sensation in the mouth keeping the taste buds busy at work every time I chew. The filler has a nice appealing smell and the taste is just right, mild but delicious. Very rich in protein, bacon and chicken, but lacking in fibre as there is no vegetable component besides the parsley garnish. To add a bit of variety, I normally add a thin layer of cooked yellow sweet corn and believe me it is really tasty, chewy and nutritious as the sweet corn is also a good source of dietary fibre and vitamins. These sandwiches really keep me going for the whole afternoon, my tummy loves them.

Always check the use by date when buying and make sure it fits in well with your requirements. Beyond the use by date the sandwich filler gets rancid.

        ~RECOMMENDATIONS~

Delicious chewy, tasty sandwiches - now we are talking. I love chicken and I am very impressed with this sandwich filler. This is real sandwich without hassles and more importantly without ripping the family food budget.

I highly recommend it to meat lovers out there, try it, you will love it.

Well done Tesco for this one!!!
