Advantages: good allround scsi card

Disadvantages: none

This works very well and like most other scsi cards, boots up with the windows 98 or se bootdisk, so this means when you have to start from new with nothing on, your computer the windows system disk sees the adaptec scsi card so inturn it will see your cd rom drive if the only cdrom in your machine is a scsi type. So installation of windows went right first time as the windows cd rom disk needs to be seen by your cd rom before you can install it on your hard disk drive.
Furthermore it works along with my abit raid udma100 controller, ok, this is a type of connector that comes along with your motherboard that connects your harddisk drives.
The adaptec 2940 has been installed on other motherboards with no problems like my old giga-byte bx2000+ ,and its been a trusty friend that has seen many cd roms and writers but has never need upgrading.
It has a plextor ultraplex 40 max reader and a plextor plexwriter 12/10/32s connected at the moment, thats a cd rom reader and a cd rom writer and has has a good few yamaha writers aswell.
While i have updated my system with faster writers the adaptec will still go on for as long as it lasts and i would recomend this cart to anyone who wants to make there own cd rom disks as scsi has always been a more professional type of computer technology .....barry young

Agree with roguetrader. I find that sometimes putting sub headings in to break up paragraphs makes it easier to read. With any sort of computer hardware it is good to talk about how easy it is to install, value for money and performance. I have adjusted my rating for this after the update.
