A good all-round controller (Adaptec 2940U2W)
Member Name: AndreBoyle
Advantages: good allrounder Disadvantages: bit out of date
It's a SCSI controller and there's not a lot to say about that. The BIOS is the same old Adaptec BIOS and it works just dandy when trying to find , configure and control those rogue SCSI devices. The card itself is a PCI card and when installed is detected just dandilly by Win 98 and Win NT alike. The drivers install without a hitch and you can get on with installing your peripherals. The included SCSI-explorer software for windows is a bit of a boon but nothing special. If you're looking for a basic all-round SCSI card tog et you going I'd go this this without a doubt. If you're looking for advanced stuff like RAID, etc then expect to pay more. Please don't forget that although SCSI si good E-IDE is cheaper and it catching-up speed wise. Summary: |
