IBM System Storage DS6800 Model 1750-522 ... ve had a DS6800 for a couple of years now. A fantastic array. From an ease of maintenance and deployment perspective it s been fantastic, and whilst we do get component failures, the array as a whole is bullet proof. I think IBM s strategy of assuming components do fail, and allowing for that with bucket loads of component redundancy is a pragmatic, albeit slightly pricey approach to delivering reliability. We ve had a number of environment related issues and a couple of firmware loads that killed half the unit, and yet the primary functionality kept on going without skipping a beat. Enermax UC-106TMFA ... fans with poorly designed sleeve bearings overheat and melt often without even triggering fan speed alarm until after the fan is destroyed. Internal & external data/power contacts are made of cheap metal which rapidly oxidizes, causing system crashes with data loss. Service and support is non-existent, and the company website is currently offline (www.enermax.com.tw). This product is absolute trash, not even worth anything as aluminum scrap. I purchased a case of these units from another vendor, and most of them have failed within 12 months. Based on this experience, I will never buy another Enermax product again. Raidsonic ICY Box IB-351-U ... version of ICY BOX is a sleek aluminium case with blue LED s housed in the grate. USB 2.0 coonecton and IDE interface. It s use is to house a 3.5 Hard Disk and be used as a external mass storage device. There are several versions of this particular model but functionality is the same. The versions are USB 2.0 or firewire connection and SATA or IDE Hard Disk conection and you can have with or without the blue LED s. So look at what you need before you buy. I had a spare 250 gig IDE drive and a free USB port. I also opted for the blue LED model as it one only a couple of pounds more and not to make it look pretty it shows activity on the drive by flashing on and off....
