Fujitsu Siemens FibreCAT SX30 ... Subsystem is an extremely simple and efficient data storage facility. With up to fourteen 73 GB or 146 GB hard disks and a SCSI transmission bandwidth of 320 MB/s, the FibreCAT SX30 Subsystem is an ideal addition to the FibreCAT N40 NAS Storage System.

The most important active components of the FibreCAT SX30 Storage Subsystem (hard disks, fans and power supply modules) are hot-pluggable. The ease and speed with which these components can be swapped during system operation minimizes service times and optimizes availability of the subsystem and of the important data held in the system.

The hot-plug power supplies are redundant and can be attached via separate power lines so that phase redundancy can also be guaranteed. A power failure is indicated in two ways; by a LED on the power supply unit and by a LED on the front panel.

The two fans of the FibreCAT SX30 Storage Subsystem are also hot-pluggable and redundant. This means that if a fan fails, it can be hot-swapped during current system operation to ensure that the subsystem does not overheat. Both fans are mounted in a fan module. Fan failure is indicated by a LED on the fan module as well as by a LED on the front panel.

The hard disks of the FibreCAT SX30 Storage Subsystem are pre-mounted in a hot-plug cage to allow quick and simple startup and, if necessary, rapid exchange with the system running. The SCSI ID of hard disks is assigned automatically on the basis of the plug-in location.
