The PRIMERGY RAID controller, equipped with Intel's i960RS 100MHz RISC processor, offers via its Ultra 160 SCSI LVD channel with 160 Mbytes and a 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI interface sufficient performance for multifaceted requirements, maximum data protection and extreme fault tolerance. The ability to connect drives for a capacity of up to 876 GB, makes the AcceleRAID 160 an excellent performance engine for any RAID application.

The 1-channel RAID controller supplies full RAID level 0, 1, 0+1, 5, 10, 50 and JBOD configuration capabilities, supporting 16 MB of SDRAM cache memory, ECC for data and parity for execution code. Other features such as hot spare and automatic rebuild allow the server to continue to operate when a drive fails. The 1-channel RAID controller has a multitude of fault detection and fault tolerance features, as well as new functions to ease set-up and management. Immediate RAID Availability (background initialization) enables the operating system to be installed while the drives are being initialized. Online RAID Expansion allows users to adapt the capacity of the array to the growing demand while operating. The additional storage space created by the new drive expands the capacity and creates an additional logical drive.

The standard Global Array Manager (GAM) enables a comprehensive storage management for the 1-channel controller. These RAID management utilities allow users to remotely configure and monitor RAID subsystems using industry standard protocols. GAM is rich in management features, allowing users to easily manage their online storage.
