I keep my drive in here permanently, it hasn't left it in months.

I bought this case to protect my WD My Passport 2TB from any drops or bumps it gets. I mainly have my hard drive plugged into the Xbox so I can watch movies and listen to music.

I have found it to be quite insulating too. The hard drive doesn't really get hot, just mildly warm but when I touch the hard drive after it's be on in this case for a few hours, it's really quite hot. This also works the other way around too so if you've got a cold room or you use this in a cold car, this will keep it insulated and stop the cold from damaging it.

So far it's protected the drive well and withstood knocks and drops from about 1 foot. My Xbox sits up above the ground but I link it through to the hard drives across the other side of the room. This keeps it all out the way and allows them to be used for the laptop too. This means the case tends to move around a bit when getting cleaned, and when the cable is knocked the hard drive will fall off. The cable never really gets dragged about but if you tread on it, it flies off faster than you can react, so this case was needed to protect it from accidents like that, and it does provide sufficient protection.

The plastic is very strong, rigid, and difficult to indent. It has never cracked, faded, got scratched or damaged in any way for that matter, so it is clearly well built here too. The clip is strong and requires a lot of effort to fully clamp shut, but once in the drive can't move around. I leave the drive in this case permanently and it's been kept in like new condition for months now.

The rubber smells like new tyres, its a lovely smell. Its also very dense and thick, so it's difficult to pick at, mould and damage. It's hard to press it down too, so don't go thinking this case will fit any other hard drives because I can assure you, you won't be squeezing anything into this but the MyPassport.

This also protects the drive from dust and spillages. Whilst it's not completely water proof, spilling a cup of water over it will stop the drive from getting damaged, but obviously if you drop it in the bath or sink it's not going to do so well. I have never found any dust inside the case so it does at least keep that horrible stuff out.

There is a little slot for the cables and the door for this is held on firmly with a little bit of rubber. It takes a small amount of effort to open but once in you can just bury the cable into the SS port on the drive. There is even a little handle at the top of the case for you to carry it with, or you can tie a Kensington lock around this.

Overall a great case and highly recommended for keeping your drive in excellent condition. Give it a sniff inside too, that new rubber smell is sensational...
