starshine35 Psychology in general: ... as i m studying psychology at uni i m a little biased. In my mind this is an amazing subject and everything about it is truly fascinating. People usually have the wrong idea about psychology. Whenever i tell someone that i m studying psychology the usual responses are: can you read my mind? , can you analyse my behaviour? and ooo i better be careful what i say around you . Let me clarify one thing studying psy...

... you want to do a Ph.D., here s some tips to remember. First of all, as I say to students thinking about doing a higher degree, how much do you WANT to do it? This may seem strange, but the thing to contemplate is that doing a higher degree course, especially a Doctorate, requires a great deal of intellectual stamina and determination. A Doctorate is a degree by research, that is you pursue a given topic and produce a thesis at the end of it (it could take anything from 2 to maybe 6 years or longer), which you then usually have to defend in a viva voce verbal examination against acknowledged experts in the particular field. This examination may last for an hour, or s...

shazmart Law in general
... am 47 years old and have spent a lot of my career in enforcement of one type or another. I was learning the parts of the law that went with whatever my job was at the time. I realised that i loved the law and learning it but thought that i was too old to actually do anything about it. I then read about Ilex Tutorial College at the solicitors i work for now. They are based in Bedford and are very recognised in all legal organisations. As i had not seriously studied for some considerable time, i did panic slightly that it would be too much, but the assistance you receive is amazing. The courses are broken down into manageable sections and cover all the basics such as cr...

At 17 I was a qualified dental nurse and was only paid minimum wage so thought id look into other healthcare careers and decided that id be a good nurse. I trained in Manchester on the first "making a difference" programme. The training was 50% academic 50% practicle; in my opinion nursing is becoming far to academic. I understand that each nurse has to have under pinning knowledge but in a practicle career I cannot help thinking that more is gained from actual hands on training. Anyway, onto my career; once qualifie...
