In the first term of first year, you are introduced to Computer Programming in Computer Programming I, taken by Ivor Spence. Ivor is a pleasant enough lecturer, a little dull perhaps. The language used is Java, which is the main teaching language that Queens uses. It isn?t to hard, especially if you have a computing background or have taken the subject at A-level. I am currently enrolled on the MEng Computer Science degree at Queens University of Belfast. I enrolled straight into this after my A-levels, but you can do an extra year after the final year of the BSc degree to get the Masters, and similarly if you want to you can change to the BSc after the second year of the Masters. I am in the second term of my second year and after finding the first year tough I?m actually beginning to enjoy it quite a lot now. Next year I will be taking a year of professional experience, where I will be placed with BT. I'm about to enter the second half of my final year here at Queens University, Belfast and I can't say I've had a great time. Not a good start!
