I've now got a job as an economic consultant after gaining an MSc from Bristol, and can honestly say that the degree has been priceless to me. My BSc was also from Bristol, and everything applies to both courses. The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Bristol has one of the most foul scarf colours schemes I've seen, involving a horrible mustardy yellow colour in two stripes. Other than that though, I can't think of anything else bad to say. The teaching is superb, with almost all lecturers covering their subjects in both an interesting and informative manner. I did A-lvel economics, but not all of us did. There's over 170 people doing economics or economics with/and..... another subject, and the split is around 50-50. I thought A-level would give me a head start but the start is very short. The thing is uni economics isn't like a-level. The topics are more abstract. It's also more quantitative (more maths) which you'll understand once you've been to a Quantitative methods lecture. You have to have Maths A-level to come here, but further maths really helps. The timetable is pretty good. Economists (L100) get 5 lectures and two tutorials a week. Then you can choose extra subjects anything ...
