Advantages: Interesting lectures, good facilities

Disadvantages: Two hour accounting lecture on friday afternoons

I did A-lvel economics, but not all of us did. There's over 170 people doing economics or economics with/and..... another subject, and the split is around 50-50. I thought A-level would give me a head start but the start is very short.

The thing is uni economics isn't like a-level. The topics are more abstract. It's also more quantitative (more maths) which you'll understand once you've been to a Quantitative methods lecture. You have to have Maths A-level to come here, but further maths really helps.

The timetable is pretty good. Economists (L100) get 5 lectures and two tutorials a week. Then you can choose extra subjects anything from accountancy to Russian. Accountancy/Philosophy/Sociology/Maths/Politics seem the most popular and the work loads differ between them. Economists have 'homework' weekly, based on discussion, with work being handed in around once a fortnight.

Recently the department got 23 out of 24 from the university reviewers. That's good, beleive me. There are loads of computers in the department and the economics society run events, socials, talks and sports teams.

All in all Economics at Bristol is pretty good. (If you don't mind one essay a term!)
