I am a 2nd year Brighton Uni student studying BEng (Hons) Mechanical and Aeronautical Design Engineering. I chose this course because I have genuine interest in Aeronautics. When I started my first year I was introduced to the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)I signed up for the institute and Was told that all I needed was engineering experience and I would be on my way to Gaining Chartered status. This was great news to me. However you could imagine my dissapointment when at the beginning of my second year, Brighton Uni announced that The IMechE Only supports the BEng (Hons) mechanical engineering and not my course. I was told that if I wanted to be a part of the institution I would Have to change course. Give up my interests in Aeronautics? I was somewhat stuck. I am currently looking for other institutes that would be able to cater for me. Brighton Uni does not tell the first year students this so be forwarned.
