Philosphy At University of HullNewest Review: ... moral philosophy and then another four choices. In my opinion there shouldn't be any choices in the first semester (if not year) and they should all be introductory modules. Greek philosphy is only an option so you can theoretically get a philosophy degree without having to read anything by the ancient Greeks. Also Aristotle was just gratuitously tacked onto the end and covered in four weeks (of 50 minute lectures). In the second year there are two compulsory modules, you just get to decide in which order you take them, Epistemology and Moral philosophy. In order to change course to Philosophy I hjad to change universities. And under the rather stupid UCAS system this meant I had to wait until clearing and so ended up where I could get a place. This turned out to be the Univeristy of Hull and although had I been applying properly it would not have been my first choice it is a good course. I do have some problems with the way the course is structured which I do not feels provides enough of a general framework, and over emphasizes ethics. This is understandable though considering Brenda Almond is the professor of moral philosophy here. As with most universities now, the year is divided up into two semesters. ...
