Samsonite Aeris Comfort Spinner
by europe-chick We have 2 of the Samsonite Aeris Comfort Spinner suitcases. We have had them for about 4 years now, and they have been on around 40 or so return flights, and they have been on removal trucks and ferries many times as well. Suffice to say they have had an awful lot of use! We bought them when we were living in Sweden and one of the ... reasons that we chose Samsonite was the 10 year global warranty. At the time we were moving around Europe quite a bit and so we figured that this was a handy peace of mind to have, especially as the suitcases were very expensive. We have 2 different sizes in the suitcases, we have one of the 82cm size, and one of the 75cm size. In hindsight I think that we should probably have bought two of the 75cm size. Both of our suitcases are in red. The 82cm size I find is actually to big for the majority of our holidays, yes it can hold an awful lot of stuff, it actually holds way more than you need for a typical 2 week holiday. The couple of problems we have encountered though are that basically that one, you probably travel with it half empty most of the time, if you do fill it then it will probably be over your weight limit on the aircraft. (It weighs 6kg empty) And two, the other problem we have encountered with it is that as we tend to do a lot of fly drives to the US, it's too big and bulky for a lot of the car boots, especially with the smaller case as well, and a couple of carry on bags to fit in the boot (and shopping bags and the like, depending what we've been doing that day). If we had chosen two of the 75cm size then they would both easily fit into the car boots along with all of our other stuff. The 75cm size does easily enable you to fit in two weeks worth of packing, it also weighs less at just short of 5kg. The cases themselves though are superb quality, and they are definately built to last. The outershell is very tough and sturdy and stands up to all sorts of knocks, ours do look a little bit battered now but they are still in perfect working order. Any suitcase will look battered though after the baggage handlers have thrown it around the airport! The cases have definately served us well, nothing that has been packed inside including fragile items has ever been damaged as the cases really do protect whatever is inside. I especially like that the suitcases are sturdy enough to use as a seat, you can basically sit on the upright suitcase whilst waiting around in the airport. The Aeris Comfort Spinner suitcases are the four wheeled suitcases, they do also come as a two wheeled suitcase which is called the Aeris Comfort Upright. This is the first time that we have gone for the four wheeled suitcases and I have to say that I find these much easier and much more comfortable to wheel around, especially if the suitcase is heavy. My husband says that he prefers the two wheeled type, each to thier own I guess. We have had no problems with the wheels locking or getting damaged at all on these suitcases, and they have been wheeled over all sorts of terrain many many times. The telescopic handles on the suitcase slide in and out very easily and lock into position securely enough. The handles lock into position in a choice of two different heights. My husband is much taller than me and so just pulls the handle up to the the first position, I'm a little shorty and so I always extend the handle fully. The suitcases have integrated luggage label holders within the handles, they came with a number of paper name and address labels initially, but as we've moved so many times we ran out ages ago, and so now just pop a slip of paper in with our details on. The suitcases are not lined, they are just the plactic shell, they do however have the elasticated criss cross packing straps in the bottom, and they have a seperate mesh divider with a pocket sectioning off the top. They have the carry handles on the sides rather than the top, but you can always lift them with the telescopic handle when it is pushed back in and locked down. They close and lock with two locking catches on the two shorter sides, and one large locking clasp which you can also put a padlock through on the longest side. We bought the Samsonite TSA padlocks at the same time as the suitcases. I have to say that these do seem to be very popular suitcases, I always see people with these when in the airport. I would say that this just shows how good these are if they are so popular. I would definately reccomend these to anyone in the market for new suitcases. Yes they are expensive, they are I believe over £200.00 each, I can't remember what we paid, plus we paid in Swedish Krona anyway and the exchange rate is much worse now so it wouldn't really be a fair comparison. I would definately choose these again as and when they do need replacing, but as I said earlier I would choose 2 of the 75cm size this time. Read the complete review |

Samsonite Graphite Termo Comfort 84cm Extra Large
by Abs2uLOTT **What a BEAST!** We were very fortunate to pick this suitcase up from my family member because it set him back a whopping £140, and that was in the sale! I've seen them in John Lewis for £200 but would imagine you could pick one up cheaper if shop around. Try Ebay maybe. I'd really begrudge paying so much for a case, but if ... you have the money quite happily, its definately worth consideration. If you are looking for a large, stylish and very secure case, that is going to do an excellent job of protecting your belongings - consider this case. I'm really glad we were given it and have had alot of use out of it so far. **Design** Silver and Grey in colour, the Samsonite Graphite is a large case with an 88 litre capacity. It weighs in at around 5.5kg which is quite heavy, so thats something to take into consideration when travelling abroad because with it being full, its going to have an impact on those scales and allowances! On top of the suitcase is an extendable handle that pulls out so it can be easily pulled along. Pulling the case gives a smooth ride thanks to the securely fitted wheels. I do find it pretty heavy to pull though so tend to leave it to hubby! I do pack the suitcase fully though, so it probably wouldnt be so much of a problem if I didnt have everything but the kitchen sink. The exterior of the case is very strong and it looks modern and smart. Inside the case is your main compartment with 4 seperate pockets which can accomodate items such like toiletries, phones, books, magazines, camera etc. A flexible shelf inside helps protect certain items and the picket storage and shoe dividers also come in really useful. I am easily able to pack 2 weeks worth of clothes in this suitcase and tend to use if for long stay caravan holidays. **Security** I particularly like the security on this suitcase due to the 3 pin easy to use locking system. Basically all you need to do is put in a 3 pin number so that your belongings and valuables are kept extra secure. **10 Year Guarantee** ......... definately testament to it's durability. It's built to last and the manufacturers know it! **Overall* I am very happy with our case. It's solid, sturdy and out of my many suitcases, is definately one of my favourites. The fact it was given to us makes it even more of a fave due to the massive price saving! Read the complete review |

Samsonite Aeris Comfort Spinner
by Abs2uLOTT Solid ....SOLID as a rock! *Breaks into tune* Everything but the kitchen sink goes when I go away. This Samsonite is fairly spacious on the inside and is nice and sturdy. That was an important factor for us when buying it because we have spent alot of time travelling on trains and buses, and anyone that knows this way of ... travel, will know your suitcases can get pretty bashed around. I've actually got 3 of these because with having teenagers, they always want to pack heaps as well. Very often with other suitcases that we've had, things, such like presents that you buy when away to stuff in your suitcase for the journey home get damaged. With the hard back case that the Samsonite presents, this isn't a problem and everything is well protected. We tend to use this suitcases for weekends away and it's plenty of room for everything. We tend to have to take more suitcases or bags if going for a week with there being 5 of us, but we use these as well. **Design** The shell of the suitcase is hard and sturdy but its remarkably lighter compared to other hard backed cases (until you fill it!) With a rubber seal around the edge to protect from rain seeping in, this hardback case is not only waterproof, it is dustproof as well. Inside the suitcase is a stiff net pocket. My opinion of this is that it could do with being deeper because although wide there's not an awful lot of room to put much in. The strong extendable handle is plastic with a metal strip underneath it. It extends for one and a half feet which is ample size for me at 5ft 4 to pull and my partner at 5ft 11. The main pockets of these suitcases are just big enough though for a weeks worth of clothes plus a few extras. I tend to have to add things like nappies, wet wipes and bottles and the odd toy and everything fits in well. I'd say it's not big enough for a 14 day trip abroad. The problem with having these bags is they look very similar to so many others so if you're trying to spot your luggage on the baggage carrier, do what I do and buy those huge signs that say ' HANDS OFF THIS IS MY SUITCASE!' ...
