My youngest Summer (2 years old) and Kayleigh (6 years old) both love Dora the Explorer. Summer clearly has some speech problems but she knows how to say Dora and give me a good nudge telling me to switch it on in the morning. This time I actually wasn't taking them to see their Daddy in Turkey, but taking them to London to see their Granny and have a cheap little holiday, this was only in Feburary. I was going to fly there but I found a really cheap bus on Mega Bus and I knew it was going to be an awful ride for the girls but flights were just too expensive for me and three kids. I wondered what they were going to do on a 9 hour bus journey, and realised they would probably need a rucksack to take pens and colouring paper with them. Also, Kayleigh needed a case of her own as Me and Summer's stuff overtook all the space in my Marks & Spencer's overnight bag. I found this when I was in argos hoping to buy a few rucksacks and cases. However, this worked out as a much cheaper alternative. Two singular rucksacks and one suitcase would have cost me £30 all in, but this whole set was only £15. Summer was given the little backpack, and Kayleigh got the case and gym bag. They simply both fought over the purse non-stop. The case is not robust at all and is very flimsy. There is no hardness the case or the backing at all. It does not have an incredible amount of space but it fit enough of Kayleigh's clothes and things in her case for a weekend away. The wheels felt very cheap and I thought for a little case they were very noisy when being rolled across hard ground. The handle is adjustable for your kids height but it does not lock in place so you can't guarantee it will stay, but it was usually still enough to stay anyway. It can not hold a great deal of weight and due to the unsupportive texture of the case, it because very difficult for Kayleigh to roll it when it was heavy. Eventually, I was left rolling the Dora the Explorer suitcase. It is fairly waterproof as we had it out in the rain waiting for my Mother-In-Law to pick us up. After this trip I never really used this case again as I didn't think it was all that reliable and I would rather the girls had back packs when travelling abroad. The graphics on the bag are fantastic nonetheless and I think they look great walking around with a Dora the explorer case than some ugly one from Dunlop. The gym bag was another disappointment. This was given to Kayleigh as well so she could take some things with her for the bus. Although it did hold in everything she needed for the time being, when she started to take it into school as her gym bag, it snapped, and we had only had it for four weeks. Also this is not waterproof as Kayleigh never closed her juice properly when it was in her bag and it came drip dropping out. For the cheap price we paid I can't explain but I was very annoyed that this didn't last. The backpack, however, was fabulous. It fitted two year old Summer perfectly and usually she would have taken it off her back and given it to me, but she kept it on her the whole time when we were waiting for busses, and it was like she almost forgotten it was there. It did hold a lot, as she fit her notebook, crayons, and her little computer toy in it, with a bottle juice and a pack of sweets. It looks great and Summer will be starting nursery after the summer and I have every intension of giving her it to take with her. She loves it and even takes it out with her when we go to the shops (although she gathered a habit of putting items she hadn't paid for in it and walking out the shops - all been taken back to the counter with a red face and an apology). She takes it with her flying and even used it as a little bed for her teddy. The girls both fought over the purse like nothing else. They both loved it, although I really let Kayleigh have it as she actually has coins to put in it. She still uses it and takes it to school, and keeps necklaces in it and all sorts. Overall, the quality wasn't that great, but for £15 the girls really loved the accessories and I would recommend it to any Dora-loving girl out there.
I bought this luggage set for my daughter last Crimbo, she's always loved Dora so when I saw this reduced in price to a tenner I couldn't resist the bargain and it ended up in her sack of pressies. We do go away quite a lot and she's always loved bags so I knew it would be a hit, but it's been appreciated even more than I hoped and at least one of the four items gets used every day! In the set you get a small toddler sized pull along suitcase, ruck sack, drawstring bag and purse. It must come in different designs as mine is a girly purple colour with pink detail, it shows Dora dressed as a princess and has a sparkly finish. I actually think it looks much nicer than the set Dooyoo have chosen to show, although the actual items are identical in shape and function. Hollie absolutely loves this luggage set. She uses the ruck sack for nursery and it's perfect for her to wear on her back, she carries a book and pencil case in it and the bag is roomy enough that she could put plenty more in it if she wanted to. It made a great bag to fill up with goodies to entertain her on a drive from Birmingham to Inverness (a hellish 950 mile round trip) but is also of a compact enough size that it didn't take over the whole of the back seat! The suitcase is good too, it's a bit flimsy and more like a bag with wheels. It opens at the top so is quite awkward to pack neatly, Hollie definitely can't manage packing it herself even though she can do quite a good job with another (proper shaped) suitcase. Once I've piled all the clothes and shoes into the case she loves pulling it and it seems very sturdy in that respect, the wheels aren't likely to fall off and the handle pulls out in a smooth motion. One problem is that the handle doesn't lock into place, I get the feeling it should as there is a little clicking noise when the handle is pulled out fully but ours doesn't. The weight of the case will hold the handle out but Hollie gets annoyed when she stops and the handle starts going back in again! Even the drawstring bag has lasted well. I'm the one who tends to decide to use this and have put Hollie's swimming kit into the bag, used it for a PE bag for a couple of weeks and packed her lunch into it when we were between lunch boxes. It feels very thin and flimsy but even though it's been used to death the bag is still in excellent condition, thank god it's machine washable as the waterproof material picks up dirt like a magnet! It's quite a large bag and will hold a decent amount of stuff, due to the fact that it's long Hollie has trouble carrying it herself as the drawstring isn't designed to be turned into handles. This makes the bag dangle so it's usually me who ends up carrying it. The purse is gorgeous, it's a zipped coin purse which not only looks great but is also a good size. It's bigger than many purses designed for very young girls so is less likely to be lost or fall to the bottom of a toy box. Hollie carries her pocket money in hers and I love watching her go into the shop and pay for her own chocolate bar! The old guy in the shop knows now to take her few pennies and add the total onto my bill but, bless him, it took some getting though as he doesn't speak a scrap of English! pmsl! This is a fab luggage set and I've no complaints. With Crimbo coming up it might be worth a look at this could make for a large but inexpensive pressie, for me it was a bargain but even at the full price of £20 (which is what this set seems to be at the moment) it's excellent value for money.
My daughter as you probably know by now is dora mad so when I spotted this last december wholst looking for present ideas I just had to buy it. Priced at just short of twenty pounds isn't bad for a four piece set like this working out at a fiver per item. The smallest item in the set is a little coin purse which has a zip fastner. It is a decent size for a child to keep loose chang in. My daughter enjoyed using hers in the arcade on holiday in august with her two penny in it for the machines. The zip was my only worry with this as my daughter tends to over fill things but the zip has lasted well and is nice and strong. The smallest of the bags is a pvc drawer string bag which is a nice decent size. My daughter uses it for swimming and it quite easily fits a standard size bath towel, swimming costume, arm bands, shower gel and shampoo in. I first thought this would have been better made of material rather than pvc as I thought it would be stronger and harder wearing but after deciding to use it as a swimming bag I have changed my mind as it doesn't get effectted by the water aand when it gets dirty a quick wipe with a damp cloth gets it looking as good as new. The back pack in the set is a decent size my daughter uses it as her p.e bag for school so it gets knocked about a lot but it is water resistant so her kit doesn't get wet if it is raining on the way to school and any dirty marks it gets on it wipes off easily. It has adjustable straps so fits nicely and the bag is generaly tough and well made. The luggage case is the largest in the set but isn't as big as I thought it would be. It is a great over night case and can fit a change of clothes and toiletrys in but that is it so isnt big enough to be a holiday case but it is nice and light so my daughter can carry it her self with the handle or pull it along on its wheels when she stays over at her nans of a saturday night. It has been well used and other than a few scratches on the wheels it is still perfect. This is a very useful set for a child and very good quality. I have seen the items being sold seperately but they do work out more expensive.
When I first started dating my boyfriend, he lived down south, and my daughter and I would regularly travel down by train to visit him . My daughter needed a bag to take with her, and whilst searching amazon for something suitable, we came across this Dora 4 Piece Luggage set. I'll start by telling you to ignore the image above - whilst the set we purchased (for 19.99) has the same 4 components of swim bag, purse, backpack and wheeled case, the colour, and images are totally different , being a much deeper, darker pink, with purple trim. On each piece of luggage is the same image - Dora, wearing (unusually for her) a very girly blue dress, with the words Magical Journey beneath, and Doras name in the top right corner. Behind Dora is a colourful pattern of swirls and dots, in oranges, reds, yellow and purple . This set is excellent - the swim/gym bag, with its drawstring is very lightweight, and just the right size for a towel, swimsuit, and hairbrush . It's machine washable too , so no horrid smells from damp swimsuits lingering about . The purse is a generous size - plenty of room for lots of change, which we have found ideal on our seaside visits , as my daughter adores the 2p machines and always has tonnes of shrapnel hanging about. The zip mechanism is smooth and trouble free, and the material is thick and sturdy, so unlikely to snag and tear . This same sturdy material makes up the main body of both the backpack and the suitcase . The backpack is a nice size, and will fit in all my daughter's school materials easily. The straps are adjustable, and are nice and wide making this a comfortable wear . The only small gripe I have with this is there are no other pockets or compartments other than the main body of the packpack - I would like it to have had at least one zip up small pocket for keeping her dinner money in . The suitcase is nice - although it really isn't that big , it is big enough to contain all the clothes needed for a weekend at a push . I usually put all my daughters trip clothes into my suitcase, allowing her to use her backpack for toys and books she wants to bring along with her, and she can squeeze enough in to keep kerself entertained . The pull along handle is comfortable for her to grip, although sliding it in and out is a little stiff. The suitcase is really too small for anything longer than a weekend - but any bigger, and a child would not be able to easily pull it along. My daughter loved this when she first got it - having her own suitcase to pull along helped her feel independant . She also loved the design at the time, although she now informs me that Dora is for babies . She's going to be waiting a while for an upgrade though,as this set is still in excellent condition some 2 years on . Recommended, although removing one star for no zippable pocket in the backpack, and the stiff handle on the wheeled case.
