Samsonite Aeris Comfort Spinner
Advantages: Sturdy, extendable handle, doesnt get dusty
Disadvantages: Heavy when filled with clothes but not as heavy as some
Solid ....SOLID as a rock! *Breaks into tune*
Everything but the kitchen sink goes when I go away. This Samsonite is fairly spacious on the inside and is nice and sturdy. That was an important factor for us when buying it because we have spent alot of time travelling on trains and buses, and anyone that knows this way of travel, will know your suitcases can get pretty bashed around. I've actually got 3 of these because with having teenagers, they always want to pack heaps as well.
Very often with other suitcases that we've had, things, such like presents that you buy when away to stuff in your suitcase for the journey home get damaged. With the hard back case that the Samsonite presents, this isn't a problem and everything is well protected. We tend to use this suitcases for weekends away and it's plenty of room for everything. We tend to have to take more suitcases or bags if going for a week with there being 5 of us, but we use these as well.
The shell of the suitcase is hard and sturdy but its remarkably lighter compared to other hard backed cases (until you fill it!) With a rubber seal around the edge to protect from rain seeping in, this hardback case is not only waterproof, it is dustproof as well. Inside the suitcase is a stiff net pocket. My opinion of this is that it could do with being deeper because although wide there's not an awful lot of room to put much in.
The strong extendable handle is plastic with a metal strip underneath it. It extends for one and a half feet which is ample size for me at 5ft 4 to pull and my partner at 5ft 11.
The main pockets of these suitcases are just big enough though for a weeks worth of clothes plus a few extras. I tend to have to add things like nappies, wet wipes and bottles and the odd toy and everything fits in well. I'd say it's not big enough for a 14 day trip abroad.
The problem with having these bags is they look very similar to so many others so if you're trying to spot your luggage on the baggage carrier, do what I do and buy those huge signs that say ' HANDS OFF THIS IS MY SUITCASE!' ...
Summary: A great buy mostly for weekends away - 5- 7 day trip
