A suitcase that ticks most of the boxes.

I brought the Tripp Basics Large Suitcase about a year and a half ago from Debenhams, whilst replacing an old and rather disappointing suitcase. I do believe Tripp suitcases are only available at Debenhams and from the official Tripp website. I've since used the suitcase on 3 separate occasions.

I wasn't on the lookout for anything too fancy but I wanted something that was going to be robust and durable. I came across the Tripp Basics Large Suitcase and felt it was perfect for me. As the name suggests, it's pretty basic and simple - it doesn't have any pockets or extra storage compartments. However it's not completely basic and does include elasticated straps inside the suitcase which help to compact your luggage (allowing you more space) and keep your luggage organised. The suitcase also comes with a small padlock and 2 keys (I have used the padlock on all of my trips and it's still going strong). The suitcase secures with 'kissing zips' which have so far been sturdy and reliable, even when the suitcase has been bursting at its seams!

The suitcase looks very smart. It has smooth, round edges and looks very sleek. There is a small silver badge on the front with 'Tripp' written on it. It comes in 2 colours, black and aqua. I chose the more sensible black version, although I now wish that I chose the aqua version because everybody seems to have a black suitcase at the airport! It looks good but it doesn't really stand out. I find I have to rely on a colourful luggage tag to identify my suitcase on the baggage carousel...

The suitcase is a large size and has a 75 litre capacity. There is plenty of room for everything I need to pack inside it, I can't imagine needing a suitcase any bigger. My most recent trip lasted a fortnight and I managed to pack everything that I needed to for the duration. Despite the size, the suitcase is surprisingly lightweight. I couldn't quite believe how feather-like it was when I picked it up in the shop - that was a big selling point for me! The dimensions are 73cm high, 48cm wide and 27cm deep. The suitcase is lined on the inside and has polyester material on the outside, which is easy enough to wipe clean. I find that being black, not many marks and scuffs tend to show up. The suitcase is very durable and robust. It's not showing any signs of wear and tear, and nothing has ever been damaged inside the suitcase.

It has a grab handle on the side and on the top. The handles are strong and I've had no problems with them. They are very 'handy' and I find they come in most useful for when I need to put my suitcase on the check-in belt at the airport, when I need to grab the suitcase from the baggage carousel and for when I need to get the suitcase in/out of vehicles. The suitcase also has an extendible handle. Again, the handle is strong and I've had absolutely no problems with it. The handle is plastic and is comfortable to hold. I use this handle whenever I need to transport my suitcase, it makes life so much easier! The suitcase glides along behind me (it has 2 wheels on the bottom which are very reliable) and I find that the handle allows me to manoeuvre the case around very easily, even turning corners isn't a problem. Despite being a large sized case, it feels so lightweight to wheel around.

This suitcase cost around £50.00, however Debenhams had a sale on at the time (Debenhams often have sales on, so it's worth a look), which meant we only paid £38.00 for the suitcase. Total bargain! Plus every Tripp suitcase comes with a 5 year guarantee, which I think is absolutely fantastic.

Overall the Tripp Basics Large Suitcase is great value for money and is a suitcase that I thoroughly recommend. It has a large capacity, it's lightweight, it's easy to manoeuvre, it looks good and is reliable, robust and durable.
